Home Is: “Being around my LGBTQ brothers and sisters, since I am in a homeless shelter.”

Aspirations: “For the last 3 years, I have specialized in youth advocacy work being a voice for youth who are homeless or facing lack of support. My dream career is a wedding planner.”

Style: “I am very diva but formal. My style expresses that I am a confident, beautiful trans woman of color and that my orientation is only a piece of me. I get my fashion ideas from Jennifer Hudson, Laverne Cox, JLO, and Zoey Saldana”

Home is….”Anywhere my mom is at”

Queer Icon….”Ma Rainey. Talk about a rebel. She gave no f****. That’s reflected in her music.”

What do you think is the biggest challenge that QTPOC face in academia? … “I think it’s feeling like we belong here. We know this institution wasn’t created for/by us and we’re reminded of that constantly. That wears on you. It makes it hard for folks to finish.”

On self care…. “Drawing and watching cartoons. I tend to draw the characters in the cartoons. Stevonnie is my current obsession.”

On fashion…” Rihanna and Solange. They are both so stylish and fearless. Also they aren’t afraid to play with color. I get my fashion ideas from the streets and tumblr….like everyone else.”
