You’re honestly such an inspiration bc you have a style that isn’t really anatomically correct and people still love everything you do. Like a lot of the time I worry about my art bc my style is little dot eyes and pointy feet and I see all these artists doing who are like “yes I understand how joints work” and obviously I’m just not as good at art as that. Like yours isn’t offensive or bad it’s just... yours? Fun and accurate like your McElroys or your TAZ Dust like thanks for just being you
thank you so so so much!!!! im glad people like my toony art style :’’’)
i think even if you have a toony art style, it’s good to go over the fundamentals of anatomy and structure. doing cartoons is all about smoothing over and simplifying things, so you need to know the rules before breaking them. it just helps to elevate everything and makes everything structurally sound.
even if it’s dotted eyes or pointed feet or even two eyes on the same side of the face, there’s always something that you can learn from drawing from real life reference. it can be tough and boring, but ive found it really helpful and would encourage anyone, no matter their art style, to draw from reference!!
and please know, a more detailed/realistic style is not inherently better than a cartoony style!!! they all have their own merits and challenges, so please dont feel put down if you see others doing more detailed work!! everybody has got their own thing
