NO PLACE LIKE HOME - My girlfriend and I wrote a short film. With no access to actors, we had to star in it and with no locations we shot in our home. Luckily for us some talented friends equipped with PPE came to help shoot it with us.

Set in the ghost town of lockdown London, this tale with a twist follows a day in the ‘life’ of a young couple who’s normal existence of spending their days with their feet up in the empty homes of unsuspecting others, is suddenly compromised by everyone being at home. Amid a haunting realisation that the ‘new normal’ is testing their relationship, their resolve to stay undetected - and seriously affecting their ability to keep up with the Kardashians; they feel increasingly invisible in a world where everyone has their feet up on their own sofas and it’s clear that there’s no room for two uninvited guests who are all dressed up with nowhere to go.

Stopping to smell the flowers? 💐 • Look, quarantine has been hard. Really. Freaking. Hard. From six crazy years in the city to six straight months of travel, I have always been the type to keep myself as busy as possible at all times. “Better busy than bored,” was my self-proclaimed motto. So sitting still at home in Florida with no job, very little motivation, and way too much free time to fill, I’ve been going truly crazy. I’ve watched an obscene amount of shows/movies, read numerous book after book, dutifully practiced my Spanish every day, and overall made very minimal headway on the few projects I’d wanted to work on while here. And then scrolling through social media and seeing all the things other people seem to be doing is exhausting because it makes me feel even more unproductive. 😪 But, at the same time, I’ve become a bit more grateful for the time spent at home. I don’t know that I otherwise would’ve slowed down and taken this time to self-reflect and revaluate. I’ve gotten to spend so much precious time with family, especially my 15 year old dog Lucky and my grandma. I’ve been able to revisit hobbies and interests that I hadn’t had time to revel in since I was young, like reading, cooking, writing, and photography. I’m realizing how much I missed Florida (as weird as this place is) and trying to make the most of what it has to offer. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s less than ideal, to be sure, but I do think 2020 has forced some much needed changes that the world was sorely in need of and the events set in place now will echo far into the future. 🌎 What do you think?
