Teacher's Influence
I have a student in my class whose mother is British and father, Spanish. He was born in Spain and he knows both English and Spanish. He speaks with the Spaniard lisp in Spanish and in English, he has a combo British/Spanish accent, really interesting. He also uses British "terminology" like "Maths" instead of "Math" and when he doesn't hear you he says "Sorry." During conferences, his mother tells me he has started saying words un-British-like and she was confused at first and then realized oh, that's probably how his teacher says it. I'm from Brooklyn. She used water as an example and says he says it differently now and I was like "Oh, how cool" that teachers have that far of an influence. It's humbling y'know. And important not to abuse.
I found out my roommate is from China
