I was rereading Two Dark Reigns, and...

For some reason I made a connection between Illian and Katharine?

Usually Illian would parallel Mirabella—both elementals, both beautiful, powerful, and beloved—but she actually has some similarities with Kat, too.

The Queen Crowned won the throne because her sisters, for one reason or another, did not compete for the crown(Kat even says she won the crown be default, albeit for a different reason than Illian). She has a specific title that is used by the people, and she’s fighting a war, which are very rare on Fennbirn. Her elemental sister who was presumed dead has returned to the Island, along with a suitor.

The next step my brain took was “If Illian died to make the Mist, will Kat have to die to stop it?” I’m just hoping that I’m very, very wrong.
