Tonight again, Queen has proven to be a superior band. Nothing on earth could ever make me change my mind on that. The way their music moves people is absolutely astounding, their songs get to the heart if the listener in whatever situation. Tonight so many people sang together, at the same time, in different parts of the world, but with the same emotion and intensity. We all sang the same song, and that is the proof of how music, Queen's music, is able to unite all of us.

I want to thank Freddie, Brian, John and Roger for giving me all of this and asking for nothing back. Thank you so much.

Queen will perform at this coming Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony.   The announcement was made by AMPAS one week out from the awards show.

The announcement comes in the wake of the blockbuster success of “Bohemian Rhapsody” in cinemas.  Original guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor along with “American Idol” star Adam Lambert will perform.

The film, which has taken in more than $854 million worldwide, is up for multiple awards at the ceremony including Best Picture and Best Actor for Rami Malek’s work as the late Freddie Mercury.
