thoughts/tips about these Drag Con Fast Passes
note: I’m not going to Drag Con this year - my experience last year was so much bigger, better, and more satisfying than I could have possibly imagined and I don’t *need* anything further from it. And I did last year without a VIP pass.
Please, babes - do not stress about the Fast Passes.
People are getting worried that they’ll lose their whole day if they don’t get Fast Passes, and it seems similar to last year’s panic about the VIP tickets. I promise you, it isn’t necessary as long as you prioritize. Prioritization is necessary at any con, and it will be no different at Drag Con whether you have fast passes or not. Please understand that you will have to commit to some lines. That’s just what a con is when M&Gs like this are involved.
Last year, I got to talk and take pictures with Raja, Sasha, Aquaria, Chi Chi, Courtney, Trixie, Violet, Kennedy, Pearl, Willam, Karen from Finance, and Creme Fatale. And I technically had time for more. Again - I did not have a VIP pass.
Do your research before the con. I knew where all the queens booths were (map is posted on the Drag Con website before the event) and when they would be there, so I had a plan. I’ll admit, the tricky part is the overlapping time slot thing - I only missed one of my priority people (Miss Fame) because she was only there Saturday and there was no way I could make it to her with all the others. But you have to pick and choose, regardless. You will not make it to absolutely everyone at the con.
Going to Drag Con is already expensive - this is not an expense you need to add. Not every queen (or even most queens) have a crazy line; that’s the nature of this glittery popularity contest that is the Drag Race fandom. But you don’t need to have a bunch of Fast Passes to make things happen. Buy a Fast Pass (or multiples!) if you want and are able, sure! But there’s no need to panic if you can’t, or choose not to.
