Oooh, yes, I need to invest in some winter tights. I have probably one pair, which is ridiculous considering where I live. Good idea! I always go bare legged and wonder why I'm freezing! Haha

when i read that, i curled up with the book and wept

i was screaming crying when i read the part about when he adopted the ugliest dog at the pound and brought it home to Leatrice and was so proud that he finally had a dog bc he wanted one his whole life as a little boy and he didnt even care that it was the shittiest dog ever he just loved it so much and then IT WAS KILLED and fuck my life fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck no no no no no

(also i made the GIANT mistake of re-reading it on the plane to LA when i went to the festival and also in all the days leading up to when i finally saw The Big Parade restoration and wow i was bawling in the theater for so many reasons and im so glad that the score was so loud or else people wouldve seriously hit me over the head oh my god i kept thinking about the dog and how Jack never let himself believe that his ~good pal~ Thalberg would ~ever do this to him~ and about when he had to sleep as a child on a dirty mat in a slum brothel "during business hours" and oh myfuckign gfod i hate everything i really do)
