Ok so, I wasn’t able to get watch the Descrndants 3 premiere but pretty much had the whole thing spoiled for me already (thanks a lot, tumblr) abd I got some STUFF to say!

Just to preface this, I already knew Audrey was the villain WAY before the movie came out. It was pretty obvious. And I just listened to Queen of Mean 3 days ago and have listened to it again 10 times since and it is a BOP! But I really wish that the ending of the movie didn’t make the song lose pretty much all of its impact. Why? Because Audrey literally got away with every single crime she committed. I was watching a YouTube video and they were talking about how the lines “The price that I’m willing to pay is expensive, there’s nothing to lose when you’re lonely and friendless” are brilliant.

I wish I could agree with them. And the lines would be, if Audry actually paid that price. As in she would pay for it though actually being punished for her crimes. Seeing Audrey go to this extreme in order to get all that she lost back and the impact of those lines kinda gets undermined and lose their punch since in the end she got off scott free. No jail time, no nothing. It kind of undermines the power and meaning behind the lines when the price that she was willing to pay went from expensive (aka, if she got caught and defeated, she would be charged with Destruction of Public Property and Property belonging to the Crown, Grand Theft, High Treason, Open Rebellion Against The Crown, and Unlawful Use of Dark Magic and probably be sentenced to life in prison. (if it were realistic, she would most certainly be sentenced to death, but this is a Disney Channel movie we're talking about here so that aint' happening) to absolutely nothing. She got away with all of it. And don't get it twisted, I still absolutely love the song! I've listened to it at least 10 times within the last 3 days and just added it to my favorites playlist about an hour ago! And I am desperately fighting the urge to cosplay her in her villain outfit, but I feel like the meaning and power behind the song would have made so much more of an impact if Audrey actually y'know...had to pay the price and face actual consequences for her actions.
