I know everyone is mad at Carisi because of how he reacted. But, as a psychologist, our emotions can make us react in a wrong way. We all have seen Carisi behave in a good way, but I think he exploted at the mad at the possibility that a rapist could get out free. This characters are humans too, they aren't lineal. I'm not defending anyone, I really hate this season.
If only SVU bothered to delve into the emotions of someone other than Benson...
Your explanation would make sense if the writers actually cared about Sonny. Instead, this season he’s either a generic cop or a ball of anger.
