Relationship Status: Begrudging Acquaintances, Minor Rivals

Feelings toward them: She is an unfortunate acquaintance.  They run in the same circles and therefore must maintain a certain air of civility.  That doesn’t stop either of them from talking derisively about the other.  

Fantasies about them: That she moves away to another, far off city where she and her idiot family won’t bother Severus ever again.  

Trait they like: She is very loyal to the people she cares about, and defends them without question.  Often her loyalties are irritatingly misplaced, but her passion to protect the ones she cares about does not go unnoticed

Trait they dislike: Her incessant partying, for one.  Her lack of self control.  Her refusal to give up undesirable affiliations with school friends.  

Favorite thing to do to bug them: Making small, clever comments that he assumes she doesn’t understand disparaging her character.  

Favorite thing to do to cheer them up: Leaving the room.  

Nightmare they had involving them: They lost the war, all of them.  Some were killed in the heat of battle.  Vincent was one of them.  Sera sat crying over his body, screaming at everyone, at the world.  The Ministry was dragging them away and they were pulling her away from his body as she fought against him.  Narcissa’s eyes were almost as lifeless as her husband’s.  Everything was hopelessness.  

Dream they had involving them: He’s only had one positive dream involving Sera.  There wasn’t much to it, but the entirety of the dream was Sera dancing in a ball gown with a bottle of champagne in her hand.  She was so carefree... Severus felt for a moment he would love nothing more that to be there dancing too.  

Desire from them right at this moment: That she would stop making idiotic mistakes and actually contribute to the war.

Relationship Status: Dead to him

Feelings toward them: Non-existent

Fantasies about them: Getting along one day, but that idea has been dismissed as something that will never happen now that she has upset him to the point of holding a grudge about it

Trait they like: Her husband

Trait they dislike: Everything 

Favorite thing to do to bug them: Coming up with reasons for him and Narcissa to avoid seeing her

Favorite thing to do to cheer them up: He wouldn’t and would likely try to make things worse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nightmare they had involving them: His wife running off to marry her

Dream they had involving them: Her finally apologizing for constantly annoying him

Desire from them right at this moment: To shut the hell up and stop visiting his house

“Mr. Crabbe, you received a low grade on your last potion because you failed to brew it correctly.  Not only was it the wrong color, it gurgled instead of bubbling, and had it been given to someone it would not have put them into a deep sleep.  Best case they would have felt a tad drowsy, but based upon your previous experience who knows what sort of effect it would have had.”  

“That is something you will have to get into your skull.  I understand it is challenging for you; your genetics work against you.  Merlin knows your father barely passed anything that required mental capacity past third year, and your mother could never quite manage to figure out how to keep her mouth shut, among other things.”  

“Mr. Crabbe, I would kindly remind you that you are speaking to the Head of your House and a Professor at the school.  This outburst is exactly my point, Crabbe.  If you let your emotions rule your life and react so expressively, that will be your downfall.  It certainly seemed to be your parent’s downfall.  Despite the distaste your last name evokes, I see immense potential in you.  You could be a satisfactory wizard, but only if you apply yourself instead of joking about with Mr. Goyle and actually put forth some effort to your work.”  

“If you come to my office tonight, I will give you the chance to attempt the potion again, in a controlled environment, for the opportunity to raise your score.  Arrive immediately after supper, and I will escort you back to the common room when you are done.  Close the door on your way out, Mr. Crabbe.”

You’re not joining us?

“No, I-,” Narcissa shook her head, biting her lip and not meeting Seraphina’s gaze for a moment as she took a deep breath. “No.” She managed a more final sounding tone this time. “I’m afraid Lucius and I can’t join you and Vincent on this occasion. Some other time perhaps though would- would be lovely.”

“Oh your mom was a bit of a spitfire. She caused a lot of trouble in her day. Liked to be the center of attention back then.  She was the sort that men got into fights over.  She acted the part of spoiled Pureblood daughter all right. She was the entitled sort, but then, I suppose you are too.  A bit flighty, too, and impetuous. She could get things done, but she also could make catastrophes happen. She had a famous temper, too. But she was just as famous for her parties and her winning personality. When she put her mind to it, her mother could be quite the charmer—not that I would know. What the fuck are you asking me this shit for? You live with the woman.”

“Leave me alone!”

“Now, now Mrs. Crabbe. I only want to ask you some questions.”

"You’re safe here.

Though Narcissa heard Seraphina's words, she shook her head numbly, rocking Draco in her arms. Trying to believe that Lucius and her, and Sera's own husband would all be safe in this situation. The blonde really did try to nod. Try to say that she agreed. That of course they would. But all that came out was a sob and she was really glad the two of them were hiding alone in the bathroom at the ministry with their sons.

She stroked Draco's head before looking at the boy in Sera's arms. They'd always said they would raise their sons as best friends. That they would grow to be as close as their mothers or their fathers. The fathers who just so happened to be on trial together for crimes they had definitely commited.

The women should go into the courtroom to watch the trial. It would do good to their husbands' image, for them to have loving wives and infant children. But Narcissa was in no state to go in yet. If they started without her, Lucius would fret over her absence, she was sure which would do him no good. And it was unfair of her to deprive Vincent of his wife. But she was still trembling. Still crying despite trying to stem it.

She let out a shuddery breath, looking up at her friend. "In- In my purse, there's a- there's a calming draught, can you...?" She turned, offering her purse to her friend so she could fetch her the vial.

Narcissa uncorked the vial with her teeth, spitting out the cork as she bounced Draco on her hip. Downing the contents in one, and coughing slightly. The potion did it's job instantly, and Narcissa's trembling stilled. She smiled at her friend. Reached out to pat baby Vincent's head before nodding at Sera.

"We should... we should go."

“He looked at me like I was stupid. I’m not stupid.”

“No, Sera, dear, of course you aren’t.” Narcissa rolled her eyes, leaning over to pour a bit more wine into her friend’s glass. “Why don’t you ignore him? Is that not what you usually do?”
