And a lot of people have been asking me why I, as a black woman, would ever go to China in the first place and if I am going back. To the first question, I want to be an ESL teacher as my career. I don’t want to stay in the states, I want to work and travel the world and this is how we do it. China, is the first steps (because their teaching years requirements are low) on that path. You gain experience, get a license while enjoying a low cost of living (and hardly any expenses). My time in China was coming to an end before this happened, and I was ready for my next country since I have 6 years of teaching experience abroad. The whole world is anti-black, like the post above says, you can’t let that shit stop you from seeing the world.
That being said, I am officially done done with China. No amount of money will convince me to stay at this point. I know I am going to experience racism at my next destination, that can’t be avoided. But China prepared me for the WORST.
