does this mean stiles and braeden are in contact regularly?
No, Stiles said that it was the the only significant thing they’ve (Braeden & Derek) found in months. More than likely Braeden messaged Stiles b/c Stiles is Malia’s boyfriend, but more than that in season 4 it was established that Stiles was “teaching” Malia. So instead of Malia possibly reacting badly if the text was sent directly to her, the text was sent to Stiles b/c he is that buffer and he can break the info to her better and calm her down if need be.
What was the "one thing" Tony "should have told" Steve that he'll "never be able to tell anyone now" from the Civil War Confession thingy, btw? I wasn't sure what that was referencing and I don't think I've seen anyone talk about it either. Idk if there's context in the comics that explains bc I haven't read all of Civil War yet (I'm straining hard not to make this shippy, I'm asking this objectively lol)
The line “It wasn’t worth it.”
this was in response to steve’s question. in the second part of The Confession, we have a flashback to steve in the helicarrier prison, and he and tony have a talk (its not really a talk, more like steve yelling at tony for 2 pages) where steve spews out a bunch of angry things at tony and ends with “I want you to know what the hell made you think this was your job to do? who made you the moral compass of us? How could you lay down with the people you’re laid down with? Tell me ‘Director Stark’, tell me, was it worth it?? Was it worth it?! Tell me!”
(**a side note this is hilarious bc the hypocrisy. steve asserts himself as the moral compass of the avengers+the world countless of times whether he means to or not, but when tony tries, steve goes berserk. ooc? perhaps, but also one of steve’s traits is his anger. steve is VERY emotional, and this shows that.)
Tony replies, ‘Well… you’re a sore loser Captain America.” and walks away.
Steve replies to the empty cell, “You bet.”
Tony’s confession over steve’s dead body is the response to steve’s diatribe (which was like a page or two long), an explanation he should’ve told steve probs during that flashback (but couldn’t, because steve was TOO angry, emotions were running too high steve wouldnt have listened).
its made very clear in the narrative of all the tie-in issues that if tony had sided with steve and fought the government, A LOT more supers would have died/horribly experimented upon/used etc, so in a no-win situation, tony sold his friendships and support through most of the superhero community, he sold his health and his soul to try and protect everyone from the shitstorm that was coming, but he couldn’t keep one of the people he loves the most in the world alive, so in that moment, tony had a definite answer for steve’s question of “was it worth it?”—steve was dead, and it wasn’t worth it.
also as much as i hate reinforcing marvels idea that civil war sells, i highly recommend the Civil War: Avengers hardcover tpd omnibus which is what I have. After reading this book from cover to cover, (with the fact in mind that some parts are written slightly ooc esp w/steve) you get a really good understanding of the event and its really hard to throw tony under the bus as the “villain” of the event.
