Y’all have seen that Queenzone is closing down at the end of October? Quick, go and grab all those really important interviews and reminiscences and anecdotes before they’re gone!
I sometimes go for a look at Queenzone forums (not that because I love the atmosphere, in fact people are always arguing and shitting over there, also it’s full of false stuffs) to have a good laugh.
(PS in Cantonese slang we call it “eating peanuts” because of how you used to enjoy peanuts in a cinema)(and John enjoys peanuts so even more relatable)
And that “Man in the Shadows” and the “John is in my basement” jokes still succeed to entertain me every time I read them.
Today for her birthday we honor the outstanding feminist Gloria Anzaldua!
Azaldua was a guiding force in the Chicana movement and lesbian/queer theory. A key contribution of her's was with hear near birthday buddy Cherrie Moraga and their work in 'The Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color'
Can we stop hating on girls for "friend-zoning" guys, and start hating on guys for queen-zoning girls?
Putting a female on a pedestal and making her your queen whether she likes it or not is stupid, and hating her for not wanting to be your fucking queen is fucked.
Unpopular opinion time.
You know something? I find the way Mary treated Jim, Joe (Fanelli) and Peter (Freestone) after Freddie's death simply sickening. Both Jim and Joe were HIV +, and struggled with that too while taking care of the only common denominator they had with Mary - Freddie. That's one of the things that I don't like about her. You don't like Jim? fine, it's alright, I don't give a damn, but the man was there with him until the very end and took care of Freddie devotedly (just like Peter and Joe). It doesn't matter if you liked him or not - kicking them out was not the right thing to do. I'm not going to start taking about other things, because I have a point and I don't want to start messing around but it's just sickening.
Now, don't start with "She was with Freddie before he was famous" bullshit - yes, I know it. I know the story, but it doesn't justify her behavior. Maybe it's just me, tho. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks so. And you guys can think whatever you want - I ain't gonna stop you. And yes, I know that Freddie loved Mary, but just because he loved her, it doesn't mean I shouldn't have my own opinions. Oh, well. As long as she made him happy....
... though I doubt he was happy to see the way she treated them (and the rest), but again, maybe that's just me.
Lady Gaga... and a small tangent brought on by Justin Bieber
I have to give credit where credit is due. I proudly own Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster, but I'm not really in a rush to get Born This Way (click that link to see why). Still, I have tons of respect for her music, particularly the bits where she's clearly influenced by Queen. ... And I rock out to Telephone more than I care to admit. Anyway. Yeah. Problematic as some of the things she's said and done may be, I still have respect (this may be my privilege talking). The entertainment industry is vicious and the public is even more so. Fucking Christ. Justin Bieber can't even cover Bohemian Rhapsody without Brian getting pestered about it. I don't like Justin Bieber, but I choose to avoid him. I don't get all fucking dramatic over a fucking song cover (Robbie Williams notwithstanding) and wish he'd die a slow and painful death.
