One of my favourite books last year was Accidental Demons by Clare Edge. It's a middle-grade fantasy about Ber, a young blood witch whose type 1 diabetes causes her to accidentally summon demons every time she checks her blood sugar. Along with her sister Maeve, Ber must manage this chaos while facing deeper, forbidden magic that threatens her coven.
It's a delightfully fun story with a clever premise that tackles some serious topics. It's got a wonderful mix of magic and diversity representation (queer, body positivity, and chronic illness).
