The Graceling Trilogy and The Darkangel Trilogy (I don’t think this has an audiobook, though.)

Don't worry, availability of an audiobook isn't a dealbreaker, just a nice bonus :)

I did the Graceling trilogy last year and enjoyed it (I think the first book was my favorite).

I just looked up a review of The Darkangel Trilogy, and the reviewer compared it favorably to Robin McKinley, who I adore (if you haven't, you should try her novel Sunshine -- it sounds like it has some similarities with Darkangel), so that is definitely going onto the TBR list. Thank you!

I don’t know much about actual comic histories, so I’ll take your word on this. I just want a movie that’s not about a cismale white straight dude.

In the beginning she is kinda the "appear out of no where and help out", "what is she doing, can we trust her?" and goes on missions that involve her being deep undercover and to follow her during them would ruin some plot twists I guess???? I just feel like they haven't really explored that fact that Natasha is a spy and her loyalties are questioned so making a movie might ruin that.

I totally agree with you. There are plenty of great female characters. Unfortunately a lot of them are in a team dynamic, like Heroes for Hire, Avengers sub groups, and the X-men.
