prompt: destiel nerd!cas and jock!dean hs!au where gabriel and sammy are best friends and that's how dean and cas meet (requested by xaviehr​) want to request a ficlet? (read my faq)

“Come on, Cassy, it’ll be fun!” Gabriel whined.

Castiel looked up from his book and glared at his older brother. Gabriel was draped dramatically across Castiel’s lap from where he was sitting crosslegged on his bed, his worn copy of ‘To Kill a Mocking Bird’ resting on his brother’s back.

For the past half hour, Gabriel had been pestering him to attend some preppy, rich-kid party hosted by the captain of the football team, Benny LaFitte.

“I’ve already told you, I don’t want to go. Even if I did, I wouldn’t fit in there,” Castiel replied somewhat bitterly, nudging Gabriel off his lap so he splayed across the comforter with a grunt of annoyance.

“Alright, enough with the pity party. That’s not true.”

Castiel snorted indignantly. “It’s not? I don’t even have any friends.”

“That’s bullshit.  What about Sam?” Gabriel shot back, his tone edged with frustration.

“He’s your friend, not mine,” Castiel said dryly.  While Sam was probably the closest thing to a friend that he had outside of his family, he was Gabriel’s friend first and foremost. They’d been inseparable ever since Sam had stood up for him against a bully in middle school. Sure, Sam was nice to him, and they had a handful of classes together, but they weren’t friends.

“Castiel, you need to learn how to have a little bit of fun every once in a while.”

“I have fun,” Castiel said defensively, gesturing to the book in his hands.

Gabriel perfectly imitated one of Sam’s infamous bitch faces, reaching over and stealing the book from his grip, flinging it across the room.

“Hey—!”

“Books aren’t fun. Books are lame. It’s just one night, Castiel,” Gabriel said insistently.

“For the last time, no!” Castiel snapped and stood to cross the room to where the book was discarded with a huff.  Gabriel smiled mischieviously as he returned to his spot, cocking an eyebrow. “So, there isn’t anything I could say to make you change your mind?”

“None whatsoever.”

“Even if I said that Dean Winchester was going to be there?”

Castiel froze, his mouth suddenly dry. His heart skipped a beat at the name, even more so at the mental image that accompanied the name; vivid green eyes, a dazzling smile that graced perfectly plump lips, a plethora of freckles that he wished he could map out with kisses… Dean Winchester.

He glanced up at Gabriel slowly, who was wearing a victorious smile.

Goddammit.

semi-hiatus announcement

ok so I’m probably not gonna be on very much in april because I’m doing nanowrimo again so I just wanted to let you guys know so you don’t unfollow me !!

I’ll probably have a queue running like I did in november so my posts should still be pretty regular. I’ll also still be checking my inbox so you can still message me and stuff

As someone who ships Destiel and Wincest equally, I wanted to share my opinion on the whole Dean/Cain parallel thing.

I'm going to come straight out and say that I think Castiel is Dean's Colette. I understand why people think Sam is his Colette, because Sam has and always will love Dean no matter what. I agree with that. But I also know that Castiel is important to Dean as well, and with a more of a romantic possibility.

Supernatural has been hinting at Destiel for seasons and seasons on end. I could link a whole plethora of meta and sources, but I'm lazy and I'm sure if you go into the Destiel meta tag you'll find a ton. Again, not saying this as a shipper. Even if you hate Destiel with a fiery passion, you cannot deny the blatant subtext the writers have put between Dean and Castiel.

Now let's look at the specific parallels between Cas and Colette

Cain says in First Born that he did horrible things, bringing down chaos and darkness. But then he met Colette. Dean was doing horrible things in hell, torturing people and enjoying it, but then he was rescued by Castiel.

"She knew who I was... and what I was. She loved me unconditionally. She forgave me." No matter what Dean did over the years they knew each other, Castiel always forgave him. Sam had a harder time forgiving him for things (ex. Gadreel)

The whole thing with Cain explaining how Dean was living out his life in reverse. He said he'd kill Crowley, Castiel and then Sam. The order in which Cain killed significant people in his life was Abel, Colette, and the knights of hell.

Cain talking to Colette at her headstone... almost like he's praying to her...

Now if we talk about Sam/Abel parallels, there are some pretty blatant ones. For example, both Sam and Abel were corrupted by Lucifer. Since season 2, Dean has had times where he's thought he'd have to kill his brother because of the darkness growing in him, and that's exactly what Cain did.

The main difference is that Dean never could kill Sam, even if though it could've prevented the apocalypse. That's the crucial point here. Dean's love for Sam is stronger than Cain's love had been for Abel. Because while Cain would kill his own brother for the sake of the world, Dean would not.

The fact that Sam isn't paralleled with Colette doesn't mean Sam isn't going to help save Dean. Because the fact is, Colette didn't really save Cain anyways. Cain still had the Mark, and like he said; it was all remission and relapse. Of course her love for him had helped him control it, but he'd never truly been cured.

But now we have two people who both deeply care for Dean and would do anything for him, would always love him no matter what he turned into. I think because of this, both Sam and Cas are going to save Dean. Like Dean said in Girls Girls Girls: "The people who love me, they pulled me back from that edge."
