Oya: Something Happened in the Way to West Africa!. Listening for & supporting a paradigm shift in this conversation of creating the world we want to live in and dismantling instituational oppression. Jetlagged, wanting to see the tran shorts last night & miss the marsha film im not in support of. I caught the q & a of the screening. What a night. Having conversations w cisgender white allies of turning white guilt into action (pov). Standing in solidarity as trans womyn of color & trans womyn of whiteness demands accountability for anti-blackness/racism at the festival itself. Having the festival/hospital support trans womyn of color being at the center to write and produce films about other trans womyn of color. We so internalize these institutional oppression/internalize racism-white supremacy. Hurts to see the trauma it causes us & being with it. When people say Black Lives Matter & elder replies All Lives Matter. White cisgender men good to see you ally & say Black Lives Matter to be a stand and shift this conversation. How soon will community see this backed up with economic justice & action beyond sending a check to reina? Seyi Adebanjo presents

Afromystic E.P. (Experimental Project) & Queer Eyes Queer Spirits which inspires people to experience Divine love within. It’s a space to investigate gender empowerment, Queerness and gender fluidity in Yorùbá/Òrìṣà mythology/traditions, and to uplift positive images and stories of Queer practitioners of Color in a society privileging Christianity.   This workshop series will include interviews, Òrìṣà story-circles, story-writing, and embodiment with gestures/movements, and will culminate with showings/performances in Brooklyn and the Bronx.  Along with exploring how Yorùbá Spirituality makes us stronger and a source of healing &  wellness

This project is for People of Color who are QTGNC, Two Spirit or LGBTQ. Straight allies are welcome. Open to Yorùbá & Òrìṣà practitioners, West African traditional religions, and faith-based/earth-based practitioners in the Diaspora.
