I’m writing an angsty, but optimistic fic for Queliot right now bc I’m in my feelings hardcore. I was listening to music when a song hit me even harder so I manifested it into writing so I’d stop crying 🥺
“Queliot — Orpheus and Eurydice”
The ancient legend of Orpheus and Eurydice concerns the fateful love of Orpheus of Thrace, son of Apollo and the muse Calliope, for the beautiful Eurydice. Orpheus travels to the Underworld to bring Eurydice back to life. Hades makes a deal with Orpheus: if he can walk all the way to the Upperworld without looking back at Eurydice, she can return to the land of the living.
i mean, why not? it’d be really beautiful in the show (but goddess please without orpheus’ fail)
Queliot Dog Park AU
Quentin and Julia both get into Yale for grad school, move into an apartment together in town.
Julia instantly makes friends and joins clubs. Quentin, not so much.
Afraid of repeating his undergrad loneliness, Q decides he wants a dog. a buddy that has to hang out with him and love him and he doesn’t have to try and make awkward conversation with
So Julia goes with him to the local shelter to look at dogs
Q falls in love with this young golden retriever that is just full to the brim with love and sunshine and the pup’s excitement brings Q out of his shell and Julia’s like “yeah, this is the one”
They adopt him and name him Chatwin.
Having a dog is so good for Q. It forces him to establish a schedule and get outside to take Chatwin on walks and when his brain wants to crash in around him, he can focus on giving belly rubs and the softness of fur
Chatwin loves going on walks and playing in the apartment but he’s also totally cool to just curl up with Q while he studies
Julia tells him about a dog park in town, so Chatwin could socialize with other dogs. They go together one sunny Saturday
The dog park is just off campus and has just enough space for Chatwin to run around and make friends
Q recognizes a few people from his classes and around campus
The blonde girl from his 10am friday class sits on a bench at the very edge of the park, her little Maltese too scared to run and play with the big dogs
Penny, who sits next to him in the same class and does NOT like him is there too, blatantly ignoring Quentin and playing fetch with his husky
Penny’s girlfriend is there too, Quentin doesn’t know her name but recognizes the curls, with her german shepard. it’s cute how the husky and the german Shepard play together.
And there, lounging on a bench in the center of the park, sits a gloriously tall and handsome man that Quentin has never seen before. The man is wearing a button up and vest at a dog park of all places and doesn’t have a dog attached to him at the moment, but he’s watching a group of dogs play, so it’s gotta be one of them.
Chatwin has a great time, and passes out the second they get home.
Quentin spends the whole week thinking about the stranger with no dog
He goes back next saturday, same time, alone.
The stranger is there again, wearing sunglasses and a different fancy outfit that equally looks like it doesn’t belong at the dog park. but he’s sitting on the same bench and no dog in sight.
Chatwin runs to play with the other dogs the second he gets off his leash and immediately begins sniffing a dog that Quentin can’t pin a breed to, some sort of rescue mutt
Quentin catches up to his dog, and tries to make eye contact with the stranger. he fails.
There are lots of dogs running around and Q tries to figure out which dog belongs to the man. He places his bet on the glorious poodle running around with the pack of dogs.
Chatwin and the dog he had been playing with earlier get into a little scuffle, not anything serious, just your average dog “don’t cross my boundary” scuffle that is easily resolved but still makes Q nervous.
He calls for Chatwin at the same time he hears another voice call out “Swayze, come here!”
The mutt dashes to the elegantly dressed man, tail wagging so excitedly it nearly knocks him over
“Your dog’s name is Swayze?” Quentin can’t help but say
The man looks up at him from under his sunglasses, caught off guard. “Uh, yes,”
And then he and his dog leave, Chatwin looking longing after the other dog and Quentin checking out the ass of the other man as he walks away
He goes back the next week.
Swayze and his owner are there, and they’re both accompanied by a woman and her pit bull.
“Margo, will you please just let me set you up on this date?” the man says, “She’s young, she’s eager, she’s got a knife obsession, totally your type”
His friend rolls her eyes and focuses on petting her pit bull. “Princess and I don’t need anyone,”
Chatwin runs right up to Swayze, and the two immediately begin running around
“Our dogs like each other,” Quentin says to the man, who looks pleasantly surprised to see him
“So they do.” And then a beat later, like the man has decided he can trust him. “I’m Eliot,”
“Quentin,” he says, almost too eager
“And I’m Margo,” the woman cut in, a sly smile on her face as she looks back and forth between the two men
Quentin makes friends
Next Saturday he makes a beeline for Eliot who greets him with a smile that makes his heart beat faster
They get to know each other
Quentin confesses why he got Chatwin, how he’s struggled with fitting in and how it’s nice to have a four legged best friend with unconditional love
Eliot says that he got Swayze the second he moved out of his dad’s house after high school. He had been hell bent on starting over, so he went to the shelter to find a glorious dog to match his stunning personality and style (his words, not Q’s) and somehow fell in love with the scared mutt in the corner that just needed a grooming and a lot of love in order to start over in a wonderful new life
Eliot sounded casual about it, but Quentin could see he was trying not to get choked up
Eliot invites Quentin (and Chatwin) to a barbecue that he and Margo are hosting that night.
Quentin goes home and gushes to Julia
Quentin and Chatwin show up at Eliot and Margo’s house (cottage, more like) and follows the smell of the grill to the fenced in backyard. Eliot is cooking and laughing with Margo, but the second he sees Q, his smile becomes brighter and he waves, calling out Quentin’s name
Q smiles in a way he hasn’t in a while, and lets Chatwin off his leash to go play with Princess the Pitbull and Swayze the Mutt. He joins Eliot and Margo and for the first time, feels like he belongs.
Quentin and Eliot’s first kiss is 100% a 101 Dalmatians moment where they get tangled in Swayze and Chatwin’s leashes
broke: Quentin dating Alice even tho they can't communicate their feelings to one another without hurting each other
woke: Quentin and Eliot with their like soulmate level shit from season 3 and 4
bespoke: Quentin and Penny as "enemies to fuck buddies to allies to boyfriends"
my best friend’s brother is also on this snowy vacation queliot headcanon:
So I just got back from a snowy vacation and I was a little winedrunk on the plane and I thought (and consequently typed) a truly idiotic headcanon.
Quentin is invited (ok bullied into but with good intentions) last minute by his friend, Margo, to come on her big annual ski trip and even though he doesn’t ski because his parents never had the money he says yes because it feels nice to be invited and, well, he likes Margo. It can’t be that bad, right?
Except that it kind of can because he didn’t realize Margo’s older brother, Eliot, is also invited (why did this not occur to him because of course he is) until Eliot steps out of the car, all regal and long legs in a crazy expensive but ok pretty cute Canada Goose parka.
And he knows Eliot. It’s not like they’ve never met before. Which is kind of the problem because Quentin inexplicably just really likes him. I mean, yeah, he’s attractive, sure, but the last time he went to one of Margo’s parties they ended up talking and laughing for, well, a long time and it was all knocking knees and shared bottles of tequila. And Quentin–
But it’s all beside the point because Margo is a good friend and Eliot is off limits and absolutely unattainable for someone at Quentin’s level. Also potentially involved with that guy Mike - who has bad hair - regardless. Just. Not anyone he should be sweating.
And ok. Eliot seems delighted - which is not a word Quentin uses with any sort of frequency - to see him and gives him a hug. A big one. Like, the kind with great arm pressure? And a shoulder sniff? Fuck, Quentin is weird. God. Why can’t he be normal?
But of course Eliot is charming and immediately they’re all in the little rented chalet with hot toddys heavy on the toddy (assuming that’s the whiskey part), and he really needs to keep himself in check.
Quentin’s only frame of reference for ski lodges or ski culture or whatever is from movies, namely romcoms, and it seems exactly right that the rented chalet is tiny and there are only a few, cosy (the rich word for cramped) rooms and he ends up sharing a room with Eliot. It’s a bunk bed because sure. And Eliot immediately claims the bottom (“I am a top in all other realms” he smirks and is that flirting or just witticism?)
Josh and Margo and Penny and Julia all immediately go to the double and triple and quintuple diamond and rhombus hills (it is all utter nonsense terminology to him and maybe this is what people feel like when he talks Fillory) but Eliot stays with him while he rents skis and insists on joining him on the bunny hill (“It’s where all of the cute instructors are. All you have to do is ask about the french fry pizza technique and Marcel, who is here for the winter from Switzerland, is buying your après aperitifs.”)
Quentin falls. A lot. But Eliot laughs and picks him up and it’s sort of okay. But cold. People like this?
They call it early because “the chalet is calling, and so is an adequately made, intensely overpriced cocktail” (Eliot, not Quentin)
Somewhere around day three, with less falls and a lot of Eliot insisting he’s ready for at least one of the lesser diamonds, he starts calling him Q.
Quentin (Q) absolutely does not blush when Eliot cheers and hugs him in a clacking frenzy of skis when he makes it down his first real hill without so much as a stumble.
They’re all very drunk and playing the Forehead Game, pieces of masking tape stuck to their heads, names written in disorderly Sharpie letters (person, fictional or real rules: no you are not real, yes you can talk, yes you are animated, fine yes, you are the Brave Little Toaster, you cheater) when Josh and Margo start making eyes and not-so-subtly tell each other that Margo is Jon Snow and Josh is Kylie Jenner so that they can “sneak off” (stumble out of the room making out with disturbing vigor) to do whatever it is they plan on doing (subtle)
And Penny and Julia decide to go on a starlight walk or some uber-saccharine romantic beautiful thing
And then it’s just. Quentin and Eliot. And a lot of wine. In front of a cracking fire in a moonlit chalet and they slump even further in their chairs by the mantle and they’re talking about something so inconsequential and great (“Ugh. Margo usually has flawless taste in friends but Back to the Future III?? No one with any decency is allowed to like that movie, Q.”) and fuck Quentin is giggling and they’ve fallen to the floor (“How can you have not read any of the Harry Potter books?”) and if his head lolls just a fraction closer to Eliot’s wild curls, it’s because of some sort of scientific, magnetic pull or something.
He’s pretty sure that Eliot is leaning forward, or maybe somehow the wooden floors have slanted, or-or the world has moved and slid him closer to Eliot - his face in particular. And lips. His lips are like just molecules away, and–
Penny and Julia. Back. Snow dusted. Glowing. In love or some shit.
He accidentally calls him El. It just happens when they’re both at the breakfast table drinking coffee one morning. (“Of course you like it black, Coldwater. All tortured 50s existentialist.” “Just shut up and pass me the butter, El.”) And Eliot doesn’t correct him, just smirks and sips daintily at his coffee (no sugar, lots of milk) and nudges the butter at him.
Quentin really likes the way Eliot says Coldwater. He just. Does.
It’s Vermont during ski season so there’s a giant snow storm.
Obviously.
All that snow has knocked the power out. It’s getting increasingly cold inside the cabin the longer they’re without heating, and Penny and Julia Do the Brave Thing and venture out to see if they can scrounge up a generator or something to make this less miserable. Margo and Josh beeline for their room without a word and that’s that, apparently.
His bunk is fucking freezing.
He can hear Eliot on the bunk under him turning and turning. He wonders if he’s any warmer.
“Q. For the love of all things unholy, could you please get down here and help me generate some body heat before I go full Ötzi the Iceman. Not that a millennia of future generations wouldn’t benefit from seeing my beauty preserved in icy mummification- but I’m not that altruistic. Oh. And please bring all of the blankets you have.”
Eliot’s bed is. Really small. Well, it’s the same size as the top bunk, but with two people on it, it’s notably less spacious. Eliot is big spooning (as a verb), and Quentin is small spooning (silently freaking out), but it is really helping to keep the chill off. The four blankets Princess and the Pea style stacked on top of them probably aren’t hurting either.
Somewhere in the middle of the night, the heat must have kicked back in - or Penny and Julia had succeeded in their quest - because Quentin wakes, sweating, pushing off cover after cover after cover and Eliot has somehow lost his shirt (and Quentin quickly loses his shit), but mostly he just lays back down and doesn’t go back to his own bunk.
He wakes up again because there are lips on his shoulder.
Not like, random, disembodied dream lips. But specific lips.
Eliot lips.
It’s still dark outside.
Quentin had kind of forgotten that feeling? That one low, low in your stomach when you wake up in bed with someone, someone who is against you and kissing your skin and you feel warm and dazed and blissed the hell out.
But he definitely remembers it now.
And he turns and they are for sure, absolutely, 100% full-on making out now and it’s really small in this bed.
Somehow Quentin loses his shirt, too (Eliot is good at somehow misplacing clothing)
“Just making sure you’re warm, Q.”
“Yeah. Taking off my shirt is definitely helping.”
They wake up in the morning and it’s hot and sticky and the opposite of Ötzi and Quentin says so.
Eliot agrees and doubles down.
They decide to stay in the chalet for the day while Margo and Josh and Penny and Julia spend their last day on the slopes. They drink hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps and Quentin hates it (the schnapps), but doesn’t tell Eliot, and Eliot loves it (burrowing into the couch with no clothes, but wool socks on, next to Quentin) but doesn’t tell Quentin.
“This hasn’t been that bad.”
As always english isn't my native language but here:
Queliot ghost hunters AU (based on Buzzfeed Unsolved kinda)
*They all know each other from internet or before internet and they often do lives together to play video games and do stupid stuff to raise money.
*Quentin started a YouTube channel on legends and ghost or demonic stories.
*Eliot who followed his channel told him about this abandoned house
*Quentin decided to do an exploration video and Eliot guided him through the house because he already went to the house for parties
*The viewers really really liked the video
*and they could see the chemistry between Q and El
*and Q and El really liked the experience too
*so Q ask El if he wants to do more video with him.
*Eliot is like "OK but if the channel grows because of me, you'll own me something"
*and this kind of video which was supposed to be a one-time thing became a serie on Q's channel.
*the channel grows and get more subscribers
*Q still does video where he talks about creatures, legend and ghosts stories but now Eliot is a co-host and does commentaries on Q's stories.
*El just really love listening to Q talking and it can be seen in his look when he watches Q talking.
*And some viewers noticed that too so they start shipping them.
*El is more skeptical and he jokes when they ear weird noises or see weird stuff during the exploration
*Q is convinced of the existence of ghosts and maybe even demon and is a little more nervous when they go on a "ghost hunt"
*But El repeat that he'll protect Q from the bad ghosts and even if Q knows that he's joking because he doesn't believe in ghost, it reassure him a little bit.
*when they sleep in abandoned houses Q put his sleeping bag as close as he can from El's one.
*And El teases him about that but find that really cute.
*The more videos they do together, the more they become really fond of each other and the chemistry is even better
*so they start really flirting in front of the camera but they both think the other is joking
*They ask Margo for help when they need some to film or helping them doing the montage of the video
*She's not blind and sees what's going on between these two.
*She uses her manipulation techniques and intelligence to help Q revealing that he's bi and not straight as El though
*But El still doesn't really want to admit that he has feelings for Q
*until they reach the million of subscribers on Q and El's channel
*Q says on a FAQ that he doesn't know if he would have reach this number if it wasn't for Eliot
*and he adds that know, he owns really something to Eliot who is with him during the FAQ
*Margo who is being the camera avails this moment to say "you own him a date, maybe?" with a serious and "I'm so done with you two queer disasters" tone
*And it's very naturally and serious that Quentin says "Yes, why not I could totally want that"
*and Eliot does his best to keep his calm during the rest of the shooting.
*and finally ask Q on a date hoping that he wasn't joking.
*of course he wasn't and they really start dating each other and start calling each other boyfriend but very seriously this time.
*the viewers don't notice right away that they are now boyfriends because literally nothing has changed between them
*except maybe the fact that they touch each other more often
*they never made a video to make their relationship official but the viewers understand that they're now a couple because they got caught kissing in one of the video
*they received some homophobic comments but they don't care and Margo is here to shut the people who insult her friends off
*The 3 of them just hunt ghost and they're all happy and Quentin is very glad to have accepted the invitation of Eliot for the abandoned house.
*I could see the other members of the squad being youtubers as well
*Margo has also her own channel where she talks about actuality, fashion and gives makeup advices.
*Like Kady plays video games
Other characters
*Alice talks about history and science
*Josh cooks and teach how to properly cook (and sometimes invites Eliot to cook with him)
* Penny make vlogs about his travels
*Fen does videos about weapons in history
*And Julia sometimes plays with Kady and does videos about movies and books on her own channel.
*Kady and Julia don't hesitate to make videos about feminist stuff
*Penny likes to make fun of Quentin and his quest about finding ghosts but they're "good" friends and sometimes he suggests places that he visited.
(sorry for the shitty sketches)
