Let's Talk: Emily Dickinson [Discussion Question]
First of all, I want to extend my apology to you all. I had a few tech issues on my side that kept me from being able to post this discussion question on our agreed upon time. In the meantime it's my hope that you've enjoyed taking in all the content Dickinson has to offer here on the MPC. As the week continues, I'll be adding more to help you further grasp what her world was like. I think the Voices and Visions documentary lays a great foundation. So let's dig a bit into the content there:
What kind of America did Emily Dickinson inhabit? What kind of town and community was she a part of? What was her role a woman, what was expected of her, as opposed to what she did. In contract, what was expected of men at the time?
Note: Reblog this post to your blog and answer it there. Make sure you're following the MPC so that I can find your response and give you credit. You do not have to add hashtags.

So I'm staying at my moms for a few days and the topic of Question 1 for Maine came up.
My mom said she was on the fence about it, because she has no problems with gay/lesbian couples, but she likes the idea of traditional marriages. She said that it may be changed if one of her own children was homosexual. I then said, "Can I tell you something?" And my mom looked at me with a kind of smile on her face and said, "You're bisexual?" And I nodded and starting crying hahaha. She came over and gave me a hug and said, "I love you and that will never change." <3
The song "Same Love" by macklemore is very inspiring and meaningful to me. I support same sex marriage and every way, and I love how in this song macklemore resists the status quo and says that we are all equal and with the assistance of Mary Lambert tells us that "we can't change." It's a very beautiful message that I hope more people in this society can appreciate. You don't have to be homosexual to support same sex love and same sex marriage, you just have to appreciate love as love. Love is love, no matter who we love or are loved by.
