sian weih (singlish for "im so done")
okay so im sick and tired of having to deal with this (and also cos i dont have a youtube channel to rant on, so imma rant here), so what im saying here is final.
it has come to my attention that a lot of people have been hating on YouTubers for no logical reason. especially when it comes to YouTubers from Asia. and this seriously needs to stop. do you really have nothing better to do??
as i was watching youtube videos this entire week, i have come across some very disgusting internet users who choose to channel their frustration into someone else's channel comment boxes. and it has come to the point where its getting so repetitive and predictable, its like a pretty shitty love story where you know that the couple are going to kiss every 10 minutes.
i have never gotten the concept of haters - why are you hating on a person who has no relation to you? as far as i know, you have to know someone really well to know what they do to make you hate them. if i were to remove the keyboard from your fingers, you'd be harmless as a housefly. so why waste your effort? does it really give you that extra satisfaction to see someone's dream destroyed just because of what you said/did? only sociopaths would be incapable of empathy. would that make you haters one?
as an Asian (Singaporean), i understand how difficult it is to make it into the entertainment business. to many Asians, the concept of making a living out of creativity and dramatic arts is not ideal. that's why i respect Asian YouTubers, actors, actresses, musicians, dance crews and producers. to have worked this hard to get your art out there is astounding. mad respect. i am a dancer and choreograph myself, and getting my work recognised is so hard in Asia.
some people i admire a lot really recently, are Singaporean rapper, director and producer Shigga Shay (Pek Jin Shen), Singaporean rapper, actor, Bboy and musician Tosh Zhang as well as Singaporean actor and singer Wang Wei Liang. these people i have named are amazing in their line of work, and i just do not understand why people can hate them for it. each of them are unique and have represented Singapore on the international market.
i have read comments on Shigga Shay's videos saying that his music does not give an accurate representation of Singapore. eh hello? you think the country belongs to you ah? yes, although we are all entitled to our own opinions, we don't have the right in commenting on how one person sees their own country. Shigga Shay can and will represent his home country in whatever way he sees fit. that's his opinions. not yours. learn to respect that.
same situation for Tosh and Wei Liang. people are hating on them just because they are a lot talented than themselves. eh hello, at least they are doing something productive with their lives, unlike those who choose to display negativity through a keyboard. yes, they may not be the handsome looking people on this earth, but im sure they can make more panties drop than you haters can. deal with it.
im not saying this just because i am a fan of theirs. i am speaking as a rational human being. i have respect for them because they are good at what they do. all im asking for people to do, is to respect them as humans, if you really dont respect their work. we all bleed red on the inside, we're all the same.
in the words of Shigga Shay "but whatever you do, some people still gonna be 不爽."
** i am aware i may get hate from this post, but whatever. i needed to get this off my chest. bring on the hate. i give no fucks whatsoever, about negative comments.
