Quetzali and Bane :]
based on the Reporter and Wrestler minigame from Rhythm Heaven.
Zali is Afro-Mexican + Caymanian American and an independent journalist who has a knack of getting herself in trouble. She's trying to get an interview about the exclusive recluse, Bane.
alt colors below. i was messing around with the gradient map, so the shading make look off.
Here's my scroll drawing! I drew Quetzali, a dragon who was left to inherit a figurehead position where the royal advisor was really pulling the strings when she was quite young because her mother ran away from her position to be with her girlfriend. Quetzali, being too young to rule, became an easy victim for the advisor, and it took a while for her to figure out the damage she was doing to the clan. She holds a lot of resentment for the way her mother abandoned her, so once the advisor was overthrown and the monarchy was dismantled, she used scrolls to change her primary, secondary, and her breed to further distance herself from her mother.
Fun fact! She is the half sister of Hime, who I drew for the Crossroads Dergtober prompt!

Bane and Quetzali encounters a strange man....
Alt with no background and a little story below readmore.
they got that shit on.
Bane gingerly took Quetzali's hand, intertwining his hand with hers. "I am unfamiliar with this part of Gotham..." It was too dirty to be near the Narrows or too down south to be Crime Alley. Not to mention the lack of people, it would have been packed on a Saturday night.
The sudden fog made it difficult to see any noticeable landmarks and there was no cell service in the area.
"I think this is a part of Old Gotham, giving the rust and age but I don't recall a subway over here." Quetzali said, grabbing the hem of her dress, mindful of the escalator. "Perhaps, one of your associates?"
"They're not my associates, pawns in my quest to take Gotham and to break Batman but no. I would have heard about a secret subway," Bane stated matter-of-factly.
Quetzali shook her head, "I mean, it's called a secret for a reason." There was many a time where Bane or someone else was caught blindsided by another plans or discovered them.
Bane paused, turning around, "Cállate."
Quetzali frowned, following his lead, "Don't tell me to hush-", complaint dying on her lips.
A tall lanky man with long blond hair in a stained blue raincoat that two sizes too big, a pair of brown slacks and black boots. Stubble covered his jaw, a dopey smile on his face. A lead pipe in hand.
"Hi..." Quetzali smiled thinly, peeking from behind her girlfriend. "Can we help you?" Not moving from the protective wall that was Bane, nor would he allow her to.
The man smiled wide, arms raised, "Would the lovely couple spare me the time to preach about our Mother and Her plan to deliver us to Paradise? Where there will be no suffering, pestilence, or war?"
Que's eyes followed the pipe. "Sorry, no. We're not interes-"
"No le hagas caso," Bane mumbled. "Él es de Blackgate. No lo reconozco de Arkham."
Que glanced at Bane, "Tiene una pipa y quién sabe qué más…"
"¿Crees que no puedo protegerte?" Bane shook his head, "Be on your way, stranger. We are in no mood for gospel."
"Oh, naysayers, I see," The man said with a disappointed sigh, "If you won't listen to my sermon about the Sect of the Holy Mother, perhaps, you two do well as a part of the 21 Sacraments. "
"Hojita."
Quetzali sighed, turning around. Admirable as it was that Bane didn't want to her witness a murder, it didn't absolve her of being an accessory to one. "Don't get blood on your shirt."
The man gawked at Bane, who was rolling up his sleeves. The man held his hands up. "Wait, we can talk about thi-"
Quetzali flinched as metal made a shallow thump against flesh and bone, followed by the man's body hitting the dirty floor like a sack of bricks. She jumped at the sound of metal hitting the floor. She turned around, shooting Bane a glare. "And there's blood on you. Well, at least it's not on your shirt. Hard to find peroxide that's more than three percent in this city. "
It wasn't hard, but god, it was expensive.
"My apologies," Bane mumbled, holding his bloodied hand out to Quetzali. Grabbing two wipe from her purse, she wiped it clean.
Quetzali glanced at the man, out cold. "The Sect of the Holy Mother...I don't think I heard of that cult before."
Bane frowned, "Is that not the name of Jospeh Blackfire's cult?" He picked the bloodied wipes.
Quetzali shook her head, "No, I think it's called the Underworlders. And he's too young to Blackfire."
Bane crossed his arms, the seams of his coat pulled taunt. "Hm. No matter, the threat has been dealt with and I believe the fog has cleared. Come," he said holding out his hand. "I do not wish to linger."
Quetzali gladly took his girlfriend, Bane pulling her close, a protective hand on her hip.
The two walked around the unconscious man. Quetzali looked at him once last time.
"Do not look it up."
"What? I can't be curiou-OW!" Que swatted Bane's arm, "I wasn't going to!"
It’s a moodboard day! Ft. trans lesbian gardener who is going to sway the clan’s evil queen to the good side through the power of love, an environmentalist royal nanny, a princess who is going to destroy the environment after her mom gets kicked out of the crown for falling in love with the gardener, a librarian’s daughter, and a little ray of sunshine who was born in the wrong era (right before the clan gets attacked by all their enemies for the grand finale of my pinkerlocke).
