I just got to know my দিদা's (maternal granny) family speaks Odia at home?! They are like mixed culture which means I might be 0.1 percent Odia? Not sure, although I do know I have some distant Odia relatives by marriage. IDK why that makes me so happy 🤣
ମୁଁ ଜାଣିନଥିଲି! (I didn't know!) But it makes sense I guess, since my didā is from Contai, West Medinipur, almost at the border of Bengal and Odisha. Parts of Medinipur were under Odisha back in the days.
Time to get serious about learning Odia and reclaim that tiny bit of Medinipuria Odia in me I guess haha... I'm also going to Bhubaneswar today to start my college life so all the more reason to get fluent in the language.🤭
