This was special for him. To have something so precious in his life after having feared his life to be over was important, and he wanted to celebrate every anniversary as if it were a milestone because of that. So as he saw Levine entering the room, he felt a warmth within him. “A little while. Wanted to make it special.” he replied, chuckling as he spotted the little plasters on his husband’s face. “Loving the Captain America on there. But I think the Minnie Mouse one is my favourite.”

"I dunno. I've heard that most people would do that hearing that someone they know is in hospital. But this makes things easier." he replied, glancing around his room with a sigh. "Name your price. I just really need something unhealthy and the nurses would probably frown at me."

Mira appreciated his attempts at comforting her, the way he used physical touch to ground her and reassure her that it was going to be ok. She leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder as she let out a slow, steady breath, thinking on the fact that there would soon be a tiny human forming within her. This was nothing that she had ever planned for, nothing that she had factored into her life, and yet the universe still threw it her way. Their way.

"Yeah. Very real." she replied softly. "What do you think? I mean, it's early days, but this is both of our decisions, we need to consider what happens next..."

“Ah, that’s cute.” Ricky replied, catching the keys with one hand as he rounded the car, smirking over at Adam as he passed him. “You and I both know that’s a lie, but it’s cute. Matt waited for the door to open, unsure if it would even be Eli. What if he had moved on? What if his new partner opened the door instead and he was faced with the very real idea of returning to life without his ex in it. But when he finally saw that familiar face staring at him as it swung open, he was stuck in silence. He didn’t know what to say, how could he even begin to explain what had happened? But he didn’t need to say anything, it turned out, as he felt Eli pulling him close for a firm embrace. 

“God, Eli...” His voice came out muffled as he buried his face in the other man’s shoulder. “I’m so sorry...”

There were bruises on his skin and blood dried against wounds. It wasn’t the worst he had ever been, but it was certainly quite a look for him as he stepped into his friend’s home. He could always trust Wes to help, but he also never wanted to take advantage. It was simply that this time, his wounds were too much to handle on his own and he couldn’t return home to Maja like this. 

“Thanks man...” Oscar winced as he lowered himself into the chair, letting out a breath while he waited. “I hope I didn’t interrupt anything important.”

“Russia?” Neve couldn’t believe it. Then again, she could not believe that when things had been going as well as they were between the two women, Milah had simply vanished and left her. She tried to be guarded, tried not to let herself fall easily and yet something about this beautiful blonde stranger who waltzed into her life through work had left her falling not only easily, but hard too. Dates had been plentiful, nights of intimacy spent wrapped in one another’s arms... Everything had seemed so perfect. But now it wasn’t. 

“You’re sorry? That’s really great, Milah, it’s great that you’re sorry. But it still doesn’t explain any of this.” Neve waved her arm around as if the other would be able to see. Her heart was hurting badly, her stomach twisting, and when she heard the final words from her ex, she shook her head. ‘“What does that even mean? Where did everything change? A few weeks ago you didn’t seem to think you weren’t good for me...”

Thanks.” Ellen gave a small, sheepish smile as she took the ice pack from her friend, having been looking forward to catching up together over the next week. “Yeah, I called it in, they’ve asked me to go into the station later today so I can make an official statement. But I needed to just get home and freshen up first. But how are you? This isn’t what I was wanting to be discussing when you arrived. Was the flight ok?”
