Shocker: Mun just ain’t here for Joanne’s simplistic cishetero world-building.

It’s blog canon that veelas’ influence on people is based on their orientations — but no one is fully “immune.”

So for example, while a straight woman wouldn’t be as helplessly in love/lust with a female-presenting* veela as a straight man, she would be drawn to her in the way that people are drawn to charisma and magnetism. She’d wouldn’t be throwing herself at the veela, but she would want her to like her, want her to respect her, and fall into somewhat foolish behavior because of that.

My Fleur portrayal assumes that her watered-down veela traits work similarly: Anyone who is attracted to women will be affected by her, regardless of gender. But since her aura is less powerful than a real veela’s, it doesn’t extend to people who aren’t attracted to women; whatever non-romantic/non-sexual charisma Fleur has, it’s because of her personality, not her genes.

Slytherins find their moral core in protecting and caring for the people they are closest to, but a Slytherin’s loyalty does not have to be limited to a small group of loved ones. To quote Terry Pratchett’s Tiffany Aching: “Turn selfishness into a weapon! Make all things yours! Make other lives and dreams and hopes yours! Protect them! Save them! [...] How dare you try to take these things, because they are mine!”

“Burned” Slytherins are especially likely to look like Gryffindors. They’ve decided loving people isn’t worth the costs — their world might be warmer if they could trust people to be good, kind, and to stay, but they have to survive. And in the absence of loyalty, their drive can reorient itself in a distinctly Gryffindor direction.

headcanon time ! fashion  [7 of 7: manon ]

When she was younger, she was usually very with the latest trends; always still clothes she could move in, and yeah there were always a few weapons hidden on her, but very en vogue.

She was big on the bright colors and statement patterns of the 70s and 80s, and, god, crop tops and overalls were good for her. Never much for any kind of jewelry, but big on cute sunglasses and heavy boots. Dressed like a proper auror at the office but looked —was— a party girl in her day-to-day.

As she gets older she falls into much darker and more neutral colors and much heavier materials and silhouettes. Leather jackets and oilskin coats, thick gloves, tactical trousers and combat boots. A more layers.

When she was younger she made a point of sort-of showcasing her scars, and even when she’s older she never tries to cover them up.
