My next door neighbor has been waking me up at 4 in the morning for the last week and a half from crying. Sobbing so hard I could hear it through the walls. I felt terrible for the person but was at a loss as to what I could do. I thought the people who lived there were an older couple (I only saw them once or twice) who moved in about 2 or 3 months ago and were both incredibly reserved, so I never even learned their names, only knew that they were likely the people who took Matt’s old unit because they were the only new people I saw after he moved out.
I was getting worried because I wasn’t sure what was happening and if the person crying was okay or needed help. But I also felt that it was intrusive to knock on the door of someone I had never met and tell them I could hear them crying. I finally asked the doorman if he knew anything about the people in that unit and, after I told him why, he told me that the man just lost his wife of 55 years and doesn’t really have any other family, so he’s basically alone.
I think I’m going to bake banana bread and leave a card with it saying that he can come and talk to me if he needs someone to talk with. It has been killing me hearing him crying like that and baking makes me feel like I have some control over the world and can help even a little.

This little girl lives at one of the finest zoos in the world, where many rare species are in breeding programs to save them from extinction. Zoos today are conservation centers first and foremost, but also serve as environmental educators, connecting people to wildlife in ways that television and the Internet cannot.
Things to think about before punching fascists
Don’t punch someone straight on the chin (that is, just under their mouth), you’ll likely break your hand before you break their face. Instead go for the side of the jaw, the nose, or under the chin with an uppercut
Your thumb should NOT be tucked in underneath your fingers (i.e. inside your fist). Instead it should be on the outside of your fingers and tucked away from the part of your fist you’ll use for punching. You could break or dislocate your thumb otherwise
Punching someone HURTS, there’s a reason a lot of professional fighters wrap their hands, be ready to ice your hand and wrist. If you notice any breaks in the skin, make sure to clean and disinfect it ASAP. You could have cut the skin on a tooth and people’s mouths are filthy (it’s called a fight bite)
You can easily sprain or fracture your wrist. Try to keep it as straight as possible and in alignment with the rest of your forearm, most of the force should be coming from the movement of your body, rather than just the movement of your arm
Here’s a pretty darn good tutorial with pictures! And here’s something that goes a little more in-depth
