Nerf: Quick 16 vs Speedload 6 (reliability)
Please note that I am priming the blaster "correctly" throughout these tests, priming slowly or without enough force will result in MANY more jams from the Quick 16. Also, all tests were performed without the use of slam-fire i.e. prime then trigger, prime then trigger etc. I have experienced up to 6 or more serious jams per 16 dart clip of whistlers in the Quick 16 by slam-firing. The Speedload 6 fired 6 of each type of dart, typing 0/6 for each type is unnecessary.
The Darts
I tested both black foam, orange tip and orange foam, black tip whistlers. I tested both black and blue tip suction darts. I tested new style taggers only. AirZone Taggers are like whistlers but without the hole and do NOT have any velcro, they are from a Triple Shot and are green foam with orange tip. AirZone Suctions are from an '8 Dart Shooter' and are yellow foam with orange tip. Buzz Bee gen 1 are dense yellow foam, purple suction tip. Buzz Bee gen 2 are green foam, orange suction tip. Photon Storm darts are the cheap knock off streamlines that come with the Photon Storm and other blasters from TaoBao and overseas (can be found on eBay as-well).
Terms Used
A serious jam is when the dart becomes bent in half and needs to be removed from the barrel with a long object, such as a length of coat-hanger. A magazine jam is when the darts do not rise in the magazine so they cannot be 'picked up' and put in the breech without manual shaking of the blaster or prodding. A squib is when a dart does not leave the barrel, BUT is NOT bent in half (as with a serious jam) and will usually fall out of the blaster if it is tipped downwards.
The Results
Quick 16
Taggers: 1/10 was a serious jam.
Whistlers: 1/16 was a serious jam. 3/16 were magazine jams.
Suction: 0/16, no jams, fired best out of Nerf brand darts.
Streamline: 8/16 were serious jams. 4/16 fired with a range of a few feet. 4/16 were squibs.
AirZone Taggers: 0/8, no jams, fired best out of third party darts.
AirZone Suction: 7/8 were serious jams.
Buzz Bee gen 1: Don't fire. Seriously, just don't even try, took me 10 mins to get them (2 darts) out.
Buzz Bee gen 2: Jam frequently, when they fire they do so with mixed results.
Photon Storm darts: 6/10 were jams. Same issues as Nerf Streamlines.
Speedload 6
Taggers: No jams.
Whistlers: No jams.
Suction: No jams. Can fishtail slightly due to power.
Streamline: No jams. Can fishtail slightly due to power.
AirZone Taggers: No jams. Don't shoot very hard.
AirZone Suction: No jams.
Buzz Bee gen 1: No jams. Only shot about 6 feet.
Buzz Bee gen 2: No jams. Shoot well.
Photon Storm darts: No jams. Shoot very well.
Conclusion
These blasters are almost complete opposites with regards to reliability. The Speedload 6 wins with absolute ease, not experiencing a single jam with any kind of tested dart. Like I noted, the Quick 16 can get MANY more jams (even with Nerf brand darts) if you do not fire it well enough or use slam-fire. If you were to ever use a Quick 16, I would recommend using Nerf Suction darts or AirZone Taggers.
Also, the Speedload 6 was a blue trigger version and shoots most darts quite well. The Quick 16, having NOT undergone a blue trigger re-vamp (as it was recalled in many places due to jamming problems), has an orange trigger, and as such does not have much power behind it and doesn't fire very well (when it does fire).
