Ok everybody, listen up.
Repeat after me: Hispanics can be of literally any race.
We have Black Hispanics, White Hispanics, and everything in between. Just because someone doesn’t match what your stereotype of what Hispanic is doesn’t mean they’re not Hispanic. There have been far too many times where people thought I was straight-up lying to them about my ethnicity because I am quite fair. It is only when I show them a picture of my grandparents or family living on the island (Puerto Rico) that they will even contemplate believing me.
I think we all just need to remember that us Hispanics have a long history and we all have the blood of our natives (Taínos in the Caribbean), Africans, and Spaniards flowing through us.
Also, please, for the love of all things good, not all Hispanics are Mexican and not all Hispanics have the same culture. There are many, MANY different cultures throughout Central and South America and the Caribbean. We don’t all eat spicy food and wear sombreros.
