So I’ve already made myself known for tearing peoples hearts out, might as well continue that streak. So anyway, YOI HC: So like, we can sort of figure Yurio’s grandfather is kinda old cause thats just how this whole grandkid thing works. He also looks to be older and has a bad back, as seen in the show. Okay, anyway my point is, what if he passed away? Like i said, I’m known for doing this kind of thing. But just imagine that a competition is approaching and everything is going just fine and dandy, until, no, Yurio gets a phone call telling him that his grandfather has been hospitalized. Yurio agrees to rush over to the hospital, (now lets just say that Yuri and Viktor are married and they live and train in Russia, alright?) So Yurio doesn’t realize he’s crying and Viktor and Yuri have walked over to him to ask him whats wrong but he’s already gotten all his shit together and is rushing out of the rink, despite constant yelling from Yakov. So he makes it to the hospital and is asking to see his grandfather and they send him to the waiting room because they don’t know his status and don’t want to send him up at a bad time. Yurio, being himself, screams in return, only wanting to make sure that his grandfather was alright. After a couple minutes of aggressively crying and screaming at the poor lady at the front desk, Yurio takes his seat and is trying to keep his shit together (he's basically losing it). Finally, the front desk lady gives him this look and calls his name. It doesn't take more than 5 seconds before he's already at the desk, awaiting more news on his grandfather. And that's when it happens. The lady has him escorted to a room, but he's not allowed inside. Finally, a doctor comes out and tells him the news. "He's gone." Yurio is a sobbing mess and the hospital calls Yuri (Yurio's emergency contact, cause let's face it, we know he would be) and about 10 minutes later, Yurio is being gently hugged by Yuri and Viktor who can't even begin to believe what has just happened. They take Yurio home, despite his plea to stay at the hospital. Yuri stays at Yurio's house and attempts to comfort him enough to get him to sleep while Viktor has taken the liberty of returning to the rink to explain the loss. Yurio doesn't show up to his competition. He can't force himself to go do it. Everyone said that it was completely okay for him, he's grieving, but Yurio finds it unacceptable to not be able to skate. But he still can't push himself to do it. It takes a while before he's finally able to skate again, but he knows it'll never be the same. He's lost what he skated for.
