Padme had waited years for this very moment to happen and now that it had happened, she could not quite believe it. Before her, were her two children, the children she had to abandon in order to keep them safe. They were alive and well. And they had come to rescue her. Not that they knew her actual identity, or their connection to her, but they had come, everything else could come later. For now, she had to focus to make a hasty retreat, because the stormtroopers were already following them.
“Keep running,” called the brunette, “I will distract them.”
Both Luke as well as Leia, looked as if they wanted to protest, but Padme did not give them the opportunity to do so. Instead she turned around and called upon the powers she had not been able to use during the time of her imprisonment. And while her eyes began to glow and she began to hover a little bit over the ground, dark storm clouds began to form right above them. the electricity could almost be felt and as the stormtroopers approached, they were hit by wild and almost uncontrollable lightning bolts. Even their armor could not protect them from the force of nature.
“Wow,” gasped Luke and his sister’s eyes were wide.
When Padme’s feet touched the ground again, she stumbled and would have fallen, had it not been for her daughter. Years of not having used her special abilities had caused her to be out of practice. But she was not overly concerned. After all, she had the feeling that she would get enough opportunities to train her powers to their original strength again. Until then, she would use the time to get to know her two lovely children better. She deserved at least that much.
An angry shout escaped Jocasta as yet another group of enemies approached her current location. She was trying her best to keep the enemies at bay, so that the discovered rebel hideout could be evacuated. Sadly, Luke and Leia were on their own mission currently, so she was the only Force sensitive mutant.
The female gritted her teeth as another laser bolt ran barely past her head. For all her ice armor, she could not keep it up forever. Her powers had limits, especially if you considered your age.
The former Jedi archivist stumbled and fell to the ground with a loud curse. her ankle was hurting, she must have sprained it and even though she had done her best, she wished she could have done more, especially for those lives, that were still inside the hideout. But there was nothing she could do anymore, she had reached her limit and she found herself even unable to dodge the laser bolt that was heading straight to her face.
And despite her situation, she did not feel much regret. Of course she would have preferred to stay with Luke and Leia and of course she would rather live than join the Force, but this was not for her to decide after all. She took a deep breath and just as the laser bolt would have made contact, an almost completely transparent wall appeared, which took the hit and protected the elderly woman. Startled, Jocasta looked around, only to be greeted by the sight of a young Togruta, who looked as if she had barely reached adulthood. the Togruta, it must have been Ahsoka, was flanked by a clone soldier and… Yan Dooku.
A gasp escaped the former head librarian and the former Sith, his eyes were no longer yellow, they had returned to their original color, came running towards her. Before Jocasta knew it, he held her in his arms and they were flying high above the fighting stormtroopers, was out of their reach, only possible due to his concentrated blasts of fire.
“Yan,” she whispered.
“Jocasta,” his eyes were full of regret, even though it was hard to see with the flames that were covering his whole body. Technically, she should have been burnt, would have been, but there had always been a very strong bond between the two of them. Jocasta’s ice simply did not melt in his proximity and his fire did not extinguish in hers. This is, how it had always been. “Oh Jocasta, I am terrible sorry.”
She shook her head and wrapped her arms around his neck. “You were brainwashed.” It was what she wanted, NEEDED to believe.
“Perhaps,” he said, “but now I have escaped Sidious clutches and I brought company… two of his latest prisoners,” he was referring to Ahsoka and Rex. The later seemed to shoot red beams out of his eyes, controlled, and they cut through everything. Ahsoka however, was floating in the air and of course Jocasta knew about her telekinetic abilities, so it was no wonder that a lot of soldiers suddenly started to float, just before they were thrown carelessly away.
Jocasta closed her eyes. She knew that she was safe, she knew that Yan had changed, the Force had told her as much, and she knew that the stormtroopers were almost defeated. She relaxed and was finally able to succumb to the calling darkness. Exhaustion had finally taken its toll on her…
