Can I request an aquarium date with Mayuzumi please?
Hi dear anon! What a difficult character you have chosen! Since you didn’t specify exactlywhat you wanted (head canons or something else) I wrote a small imagine of yourdate at the aquarium with him! Hope you enjoye it!
Unexpected
That day, you were particularly excited. You andMayuzumi didn’t went often on fancy dates; not that you were unhappy about it,both of you preferred spending quiet afternoons reading together, walking in apark or just enjoying each other company. Not counting when you went to cheerfor him in silence during practice or matches. You felt also a bit nervous incrowded places and Mayuzumi lost his temper more frequently when surrounded byloud people, cursing heavily even in public in way that always made youchuckles. Who could have ever imagined that the controlled, emotionless andmore than slightly indifferent guy he always seemed to be, was in reality sohotheaded inside? Well, for now only you since, as Akashi always reminded youduring your moments of uncertainty, you were the only one he cared about andnaturally showed his emotions to.
That said, going out like a proper couple sometimeswas really exciting and you were really looking forward to it.
You had to meet up with him at eleven in front of thetrain station and there you found him even if you had arrived a bit earlier, waiting in his plain clothes leaned against the wall. Probably nobody elsecould even see him, but you were trained, you could find him in a crowd in lessthan five minutes. Well, at least now; at first he scared you so much jumpingout of nowhere that if it hadn’t been for the spontaneous laughter he let outevery time, you would have already bought him a bell.
You giggled at his (slightly) surprised look at yourskirt and at his a bit to longer gaze to your legs, and then greeted himquietly, a little embarrassed.
“Let’s go.” He said without complementing yourappearance, but you had already read everything on his face, so it wasn’tnecessary.
The two of you spent the ride seated together insilence; you rested against his shoulder a bit sleepy and he let you do it,brushing sometimes your leg with his fingers.
When you finally arrived at the Aquarium, you found itmore packed and loud of what the two of you had thought. You felt Mayuzumistiffening and saw him glaring at the numerous bunches of wild children runningeverywhere; for a second you feared he was going to drag you away, but he tooka breath and offered you his hand.
“You’re going to get lost otherwise.” He explained bluntly, but averting his gaze.
“Thank you.” You chuckled grabbing it and interlacingyour fingers with his. He knew perfectly that you weren’t the type to get lostand that you could always find him, but he also remembered your fear of crowdand didn’t want you to feel uneasy. And he was your boyfriend, he had somerights.
After the long queue for the tickets, you entered inthe long awaited blue world, lulled by the silent sound of water splashing andchildren’s excited whispers.
“Look!” you suddenly exclaimed after one or two tankswhere you stared adoringly at colorful tropical fishes, “Dolphins!” youwhispered looking awe-struck at the animals. Mayuzumi followed your eyes and, individuating the animals, sighed with a smile on the corner of his lips. He pulledyou through the people and guided you until you could squash your face againstthe glass.
You remained in silent contemplation for more thanfive minutes; your boyfriend beside you let you take your time. He loved thatside of you, your quiet but vivid excitement at everything, and was used to theway you were.
“Aren’t they beautiful?” you finally asked, breakingeye contact with one of the animals and turning your head towards him to shareyour happiness. You found him looking intently you, focused.
“They are.” He assured blankly and you gave him anamused glare.
“You’re not even looking at them, Chihiro.” Pointedout shaking your head.
“Because I’m looking to something even better.” Hereplied calmly and your jaw dropped. You blushed furiously, while hecontemplated you some more as if he was confirming one more time what he hadstated, a smirk on his lips seeing your reaction. How he could say certainthings without being embarrassed was a mystery to you.
“Let’s go on, there are the giant sea turtles ahead.”He then say, taking your hand and starting to walk once again. You followed, burying your face in his shoulders.
“You’re so unfair.” Muttered, feeling happiness andwarmth filling your stomach.
“Just honest.” But you could hear in his tone that hewas smiling a little too.
The day went on leisurely. You shared crepes for lunchand you managed to get a funny photo of Mayuzumi pouting because he had whippedcream on his nose. You could watch and watch the tanks for all the time youwanted, except for when too many people started to gather around you two andyou could hear Mayuzumi beginning to mutter curses under his breaths: in thosecases, you dragged him way before he could traumatize some children or eventheir parents. Your favorite moment was the kiss he quickly stole you in frontof the killer whale’s tank.
He had just called your name and when you had turned,he had put his arm around your waist and pulled you closer, kissing before youcould even close your eyes. And then, as if nothing had happened, he had letyou go and dragged you to another tank. As always, everything with him wasunexpected.
You were already feeling a bit sad because the day wasending, when you passed near the souvenir shop. Just a glance to the stuffedanimal and you fell in love with of one of them, but didn’t want to be childishand just restrained yourself. However, Mayuzumi stopped abruptly and looked atyou.
“Do you want something?” inquired, tilting slightlyhis head.
“No, no, I’m okay!” you stuttered nervous and embarrassed;you didn’t want to seem spoiled.
He sighed, rolling his eyes.
“How many times I’ve said you to tell me when you wantsomething?” he reprimanded you, flicking your forehead. Then he walked towardsthe toys before you could answer, pulling you with him.
He always knew what you were thinking; he alwaysdeciphered your moods and feelings even if you manifested them so quietly andfaintly. He was always looking at you.
“I bet you want a dolphin.” He observed, a shade of amusementin his voice remembering the expression you showed before seeing the animals.
You chuckled, feeling all warm and loved for his constant, caring attentions.
“Wrong.” You answered giggling and picked up a cute, emotionless seal. He arched an eyebrow at your choice.
“This looks like you.” You explained showing him yourbiggest smile and he blinked caught by surprise, “Love at first sight.” Finally, you could see a faint blush on his cheeks, while he covered his mouth with ahand and pretended to be annoyed by it, before he leaned and gave you a peck onthe lips.
“Then let’s buy it.”
He knew everything of you, but you still managed tounexpectedly surprise him every time.
