Some animals react to the sound of a bridging stimulus in a way that indicates the sound may be unpleasant. There are a few options you can consider if you are addressing this challenge. One is to choose a different method for delivering a bridge. You can consider other devices, words, touch or a visual signal that acts as a bridging stimulus. If using a clicker as seen in this clip, you can muffle the sound by wrapping the device in fabric. (On the fly we detached my hood from my jacket and used that to make a quieter click sound for this armadillo.) However, there are clickers that are intentionally made to produce a less intense sound. The one at the end of the video clip was off the shelf from a pet store. You will notice the packaging promotes the soft click as one of its features. In this example changing the intensity of the sound helped changed the sound from aversive to indicator of mealworm delivery. #armadillo #armadillotraining #targettraining #clickertraining #quietclicker #softclicker https://www.instagram.com/p/ByftcqZlc-L/?igshid=19drjdjlqaafn
