The Thinker, by Rodin, is a classic. While I don’t think it’s a particularly fine sculpture, I do love what it stands for --- thinking. Too many people refuse to think, or confine their thinking to the most shallow of things. Thinking isn’t easy. Often, thinking can be painful as you reveal unpleasant truths about yourself. Thinking can open your eyes to a world you’d rather be blind to.
I can’t imagine my world without writings of Marcus Aurelias, Homer, Socrates, Shakespeare, Plato, and others. These were the greatest thinkers the world has yet seen, and their words are there for all of us to contemplate. So, folks, if there’s one take-away from this page, let it be ‘to think’ and stand independent from the herd. It’s not always comfortable, and you’ll likely lose friends, but you’ll be far better off for it. Walk Away, friends. Take yourself out of the rat race for a few minutes every day. Turn off that phone you’re so addicted too. Clean out the clutter in that mental attic.
