Ex Altiora (2024-2026) - This quilt has been planned for a long time, and has taken a while to make. It's inspired by the Magnus Archives and the fear of big places, heights, and the sea. It's the reason I met my husband, so I had to make something!

The pattern is Trail Mix but I've wiggled the blocks around so it looks like lightning.

The quilt is machine pieced but hand quilted, with the beginning of the Statement embroidered around the edge of the quilt.

This is my largest quilt to date (thank you friends who helped hold it up in the stairwell), and is the quilt I'm proudest of making. It's also the first quilt I'm thinking about exhibiting, so if anyone has any advice please let me know!

Squeezing in as the last quilt for 2025 (let's ignore that it was on my 2026 list), the giant trans flag is complete! It was inspired by the beautiful quilt @waterbearwasteland made.

It's about 2.5m square, and the back is a thick outdoor canvas. All of which made it incredibly heavy and the worst quilting job I've ever done. I'm still in shock that it made it through my machine! If you don't turn it over it looks fine 😂

Now it's off to a local trans picnic group, where it will hopefully serve them well. ❤️

She's growing! There's still three more borders to make before it reaches its full size, and I get a little more excited each time.

The next border was cut too small so there will be a little pattern tweaking, but I reckon it's doable. We'll see what happens next weekend!

And she's done! (except for the label but shhhhh, that'll get done in class tonight). I'm so so happy with how this one turned out, it's been in my mind for a while.

Hand quilting through the batiks was tough, so I kept the quilting to a minimum. I used a nice blue variegated perle, and it contrasts beautifully on the purple.

The piped looking binding was an interesting experiment. I don't think I'd do it again? I prefer how my normal binding goes on. But, the yellow is fun, and it's a nice little pop to finish it all off.

I'll head up to visit in a few weeks, so it can come with me then for a personal delivery.

With this one done I've got three quilts left to finish for the year, but they're all a great deal smaller so hooray!

For my final ever knitting/crochet project I completed a little baby Talita from @jayrockin's comic Runaway to the Stars as a gift for my husband. I'm so pleased with how she worked out!

I think I have a terrible idea...

So I've been working on quilting my Magnus Archives quilt (The Vast Quilt) and after several years I'm getting close to being done.

I want to embroider the Ex Altiora statement around the quilt in green thread to give it that extra TMA link. My husband and I both agreed that it would look best on the dark blue, but be more balanced on the medium blue.

Which leaves the dark blue border... And folks you have to know how painfully tempting it is to embroider the fact that "The Magnus Archives is a podcast..."

Can I justify three years of my life on a shitpost?

Flagging

This quilt was created because I wanted to make something undeniably queer, and something other than a pride flag (which are nice but sometimes lack the vibe i get being in community). It's inspired by the hanky code and all the amazing queer men who I've learned from over the years. For a block choice I couldn't go past a bear paw, which I personally feel is the gayest block (and not just because I am one ;)).

As is only fitting it will be a gift for one of the people who taught me so much!

Well for the first time in a week, and as my sick leave comes to an end I finally have energy for sewing so I guess that's a good sign? I couldn't be fucked to be precise or plan though, so the scrap quilt it is. Now I just need to do the light blue bag and I'll have blocks!
