The thrill and the mist!
I was driving steadily across the long highway, but something was uneasy. I was in the top gear, but the meter showed a constant speed of 80kmph despite my constant efforts of acceleration. The road was empty; I still could pretty much hear cars honking. The wiper on the windscreen was fast asleep with no signs of rain, however, I could see heavy downpour in the rear view mirror. The cars behind me had their parking lights on. I found something amiss and wondered if at least the brakes would work. I apprehensively pressed the brake lever down, yet the car moved at the same pace. I turned my head around only to find the rest of the world rushing backwards, with the speed rising exponentially. With an invariable flash of multi-colored lights, I thought it was some strange gravitational pull generated by a supernatural power and I had no control over myself when suddenly there was an abrupt jerk that woke me up to the silence of the Sunday afternoon, and I found myself restless on the bed, in my hotel room.
I was overworked then, and I realized that I was asleep since 16 hours after a week full of travel. I was at Kollam, a small seaport in Kerala. My 7th floor hotel room had a wonderful view of the beach. The sky was murky and I thought it was a good idea to lie down in the open air.
As I walked down towards the sea, calmness felt rushing inside my heavy head. The beach of Kollam provided peace of the highest possible standard. It made me shed off everything for that moment and the gentle mist played the perfect role of a soothing blanket as I rested my head on the sand just next to the boats, watching the sun crawl down behind the clouds. languidly wondering, where was this moment before!
