so obviously ryland has no visible tattoos during the movie meaning ryan gosling had to cover up most of his tattoos. BUT, there are a few scenes where you can see a barcode tattoo peaking out under his watch.

i like to headcanon that ryland was crossfaded once in college and ended up using the barcode of the snack he had the munchies for as tattoo inspo. woke up the next day and never was able to find out what the barcode was for. he was too broke for tattoo removal so he hid it under a watch.

watching new movie releases, but nothing had me in a chokehold like project hail mary. i miss it 🥀

while amaze amaze amaze, is my fave song from the soundtrack, centrifuge is up there. it's so hopeful and i feel like this is one of the songs where you can tell humans and eridians are cheering on grace and rocky !!

one of my favorite features on a person's face is their nose. i love his nose so much, especially the bump and the way it's slightly upturned. i feel like these two photos really defines those features and im all about it !!

i'm only on the second chapter of the project hail mary book, so book spoilers following below:

he talks about meeting marissa at the same restaurant every thursday to the point that they were regulars. do you think even after he was forced onto hail mary, she still went every thursday to honor that tradition? always ordering a steak and drinking a pint of beer in a way to remember their long term friendship?

if my friend got shipped to space, i would genuinely not be okay every time i sat down alone at the same table, with the same food, and with an empty seat in front of me.

i know she wasn't relevant to his story at all, but i'm curious about what emotions ryland's ex felt if she ever found out that he was sent on the hail mary mission.

if she did find out, i wonder if she had any regrets. i wonder if she looked back on their time together fondly despite the chaos. i wonder if she looks up into the sky and questions what it could have been like if things were slightly different. i wonder if she whispers that she's sorry every time she sees the brightest star because it reminds her of his eyes shining whenever he rambled about something she never understood. she always said that his "head was in the clouds," but now he's past the clouds, past the stars visible from earth, past the solar system, and is now in an unreachable part of space.

maybe even down the line, when earth is a little bit warmer and is no longer on the brink of death, i wonder if she named her baby girl, grace. in honor of the man who saved her future, but will forever remain in her past.
