So back in May, I started a little contest to predict when my sister would have her baby. The winner of that was @heather-lynn who guessed little Aria would arrive June 4th at noon... she arrived June 4th at 11:07 am.
So the prize for @heather-lynn was a drabble of her choice. But she kept saying “I don’t know!” The only thing we kept coming back to was the possibility of me writing something for her pairing: Jake Jensen and Quinn Andrews. So guess what! I wrote one!!
I got the idea for it in the shower the other night and I wrote it this morning and sent it to her this morning without any warning... and she made a banner for it as well. So without further ado...

Quinn was in her room working on the edits of her latest book when the boys came in with the dogs trailing after them. The rambunctious crew drew her attention before either boy could speak.
Turning towards them, she saw Jackson nudge his older brother and motion his head towards her. The two boys had been acting strangely as of late between asking if they could earn money by doing extra chores and/or having hushed conversations in the grocery store, when one of the wanted to buy something, that always led to the item being put back. She'd mentioned this to Jensen before he's left for his latest mission, but he had shrugged it off saying that he'd seen the boys drooling over the newest Nerf gun the last time they'd been at the store.
Despite Jensen's lack of concern, Quinn was on edge about the whole thing. After all, the boys had been skipping the toy department completely during their most recent trips to the store. She'd been waiting for the right moment to ask them what was going on, but it looked like they'd come to her first.
At his brother's urging, Cooper stepped forward and cleared his throat. "We know what we want to get dad for Christmas," he told her.
Quinn blinked in surprise and looked at the calendar hanging above her desk, confirming that it was only October. Turning back to her sons, she said, "Ok, what is it?"
"Tickets to a Patriots game," Cooper told her.
"We've been saving our money," Jackson added. "We has lots of it!"
Quinn's heart bloomed with love for her boys. She knew there was no way they could have saved up the money for tickets doing ten cent chores, but their little hearts were in the right place and she would make it happen. One way or another. But first she wanted to know how they'd come to the idea. So, after telling the boys it was a great idea, she asked her question.
"He was so excited about football season," Cooper said with a shrug. "Then he had to go on that mission."
"And we only got watch two games with him!" Jackson cried out, his little face revealing how upset he was by that fact.
Before Jensen, Quinn couldn't have cared less about football, but even she had enjoyed their little football watching parties. She knew Jensen had enjoyed explaining the game to her and the boys and that he was missing that time as much as they were.
"Alright," Quinn said. "Go get your piggy banks and we'll count your money."
The boys (and their furry shadows) ran from the room and returned a few minutes later with their Ninja Turtle piggy banks. Quinn helped them onto the bed and then they dumped the money out onto the comforter.
By the time they'd finished counting it all, Quinn was more than impressed with her boys' ability to save $15 dollars.
"Is it enough?" Cooper asked, hopeful.
Not wanting to lie to her sons, but also not wanting to break their hearts, Quinn was careful as she replied, "I'm not sure, but I think this is the perfect gift for dad. Is it ok if I help you two out, if needed? It can be our little secret."
The boys put their heads together and whispered for a few seconds, before turning back to her and nodding their heads.
That night, after the boys were in bed asleep, Quinn began the process of buying tickets to a game. Jensen was due home in a week's time and the Patriots had a home game a couple weeks later that coincided with an appearance she had scheduled for a reading of her new book in Boston.
After buying the tickets, Quinn put her plan into action. She would convince Jensen to bring the boys to Boston on a train (they'd love it), so the four of them could spend the weekend there. Then on Sunday, they'd surprise Jensen by taking him to Gillette Stadium to see his favorite football team play.
