library of alexandria - the crime that set civilization back at least 1000 years (YT)
1. city of alexandria was named after alexander the great
2. burned down by caesar 2000 years ago
3. not only a library but a research centre - could be credited for the first model for a university it had the worlds first medical school
4. it existed for 700 years.
5. it had a place full of papyrus scrolls known as bibliotheqi (?) - above the shelves full of these scrolls, was a place of inscription that wrote: "the place of the cure of the soul"
no one knows what was in those scrolls (400 000 - 70 000 scrolls, estimated)

Dionysius thrax - defined various parts of speech: nouns, verbs etc
1st medical school, which was in the Alexandrian library, established by Herophilus: the father of anatomy, who defined where thinking came from & not the heart (which was a belief for thousands of years)
