IT  VERY  NEARLY  WORKED  LIKE  A  SWITCH.    blue  eyes  flicked  away from  the  screen --   down  to  the  hand  on  her  forearm.    her  own  fingers  already  stopped  moving.    JUST  LIKE  THAT --    she  had  quit  working,  the  single  reminder  that  there’s  something  more  important.    at  least  for  the  moment.    that  just  because  there’s  a  war  doesn’t  mean  there  SHOULDN’T  BE  LOVE,  shouldn’t  be  peace  even  in  the  war.     that’s  what  asari’s  are  all  about.     loving,  growing,  finding  solace  even  after  your  partner  passes.    THEY  USUALLY  DO  WITH  ASARI.     unless  you  somehow  find  a  peaceful  krogan  to  learn  from.    it’s  rare,  just  not  unheard  of. 

THE  QUARIAN’S  LANGUAGE  HAD  ALWAYS  been  fascinating.    that  even  the  most  sophisticated  of  translators  have  a  hard  time  picking  up  words.    it’s  a  language  so  profound,  SO  ORIGINALLY  THEIRS  that  it’s  hard  to  touch.     that  certain  words  can  not  be  placed  correctly  in  any  other  language --    translation  is  only  a  guess,  a  close  SIMILARITY  to  another  language.

‘  it  doesn’t  matter  if  you’re  new  to  this,  nara.     you’re  a  natural.  ’       liara’s  voice  is  soft,  TWO  CAN  PLAY  at  the:    native  language  words  hard  to  translate  into  other  languages...   game.     don’t  get  it  wrong,  though.    it’s  not  a  game.    liara  is  honestly  honored.    ESPECIALLY  SINCE  SHE  KNOWS  the  meanings.    honored  might  even  be  an  understatement.     she  almost  wants  to  cry. 

NEW  NICKNAME,  TALI.     nara,  “bearer.”     one  who  shoulders  another  burden,  helps  in  difficult  times.     liara  is  so  beyond  appreciative.

mass  effect:   in  some  instances,  we’re  gonna  have  liara  &  tali  bicker  over  shepard.   you  know,  cliche  het  stuff.

@qurises  &  i:     nay.    we’re  gonna  have  them  date  &  be  an  even  more  power  couple  than  even  shepard  +  somebody.    suck  a  cactus.

“settling in ok?” a quiet cough announces her presence and shepard gives a small nod of acknowledgement, “some of the crew were saying you took an interest in the ship’s engine so i guessed yes, but i wanted to make sure.” a hand reaches out to pat appreciatively against the cool metal of the wall. “the normandy’s incredible. wish more people in the alliance felt that way but, hey,” she shrugs loosely, “they’ll get around to realizing it, hopefully sooner than later.” 

shepard’s voice grows quieter now and her hands come to fold together at her waist, almost apologetically. “listen, tali-,” a pause as she considers her words carefully, “a lot of this crew isn’t used to sharing a ship with anyone who isn’t a human. if anyone...gives you trouble, i know you can handle it, but i’d like you to let me know. i won’t tolerate it.”

literally  all  i  think  when  i  see  tali  is  ‘liara’s  future  wife’  and  that’s  it.    @qurises  is  a  monster.    call  out,  i  guess.    but  in  all  honesty,  i  love  this  ship  with  all  my  heart  and  that  tali/liara  is  one  hell  of  a  power  couple.

‘  I’M  REALLY  STARTING  TO  THINK  i’m  part  krogan.  ’      is  all  she  says,  not  the  answer  to  tali’s  question.     liara’s  still  just  sitting  there,  catching  her  bearings,  head  FALLS  FORWARD  from  the  wall,  lip  still  bleeding.    it’s  not  even  that  she  thinks  herself  as  powerful,  but  it  is  hard  to  stop  her.

REALLY,  SHE  DOESN’T  KNOW  WHY  being  part  krogan  bothers  her  so  much.  maybe  it’s  because  she  prides  herself  on  being  patient,  caring,  mostly  non-violent –  mostly,  though.     HER  OWN  ANGER  SCARES  HER.     liara  holds  out  a  hand,  the  very  specific  individual  is  definitely  dead.

WHAT  SHE  NEEDS  HELP  WITH  are  the  individuals  that  sent  that  angry  krogan  after  her.    that  she  very  narrowly  just  got  out  of  a  fight  with.    blue  eyes  flick  up  to  tali.    IT’S  A  GOOD  THING  she  doesn’t  bruise  too  easily  or  that  the  bruises  even  show  quite  readily  because  she  hurts.
