Q is for Qvale This relatively small and obscure car manufacturer has quite the interesting backstory. Originally started by Bruce Qvale, the son of Kjell Qvale (who was the first distributor for Jaguar in the US West Coast and one of the original founders of the San Francisco Auto Show), Qvale was an independent Italian car manufacturer that was started in 2000 and only ever made the pictured model: the Mangusta. The Qvale Mangusta was produced after the original design -- chosen by De Tomaso to revive their brand (then named the De Tomaso "Biguà") -- ran into some financial problems. The name "Mangusta" was chosen by Qvale as an homage to the historic De Tomaso Mangusta. Qvale built 284 cars between 2000 and 2002 before eventually selling the rights to the design to MG Rover Group in 2003. One year later, this design was resurrected in the form of the much more aesthetically pleasing MG SV and SVR that utilized the structure, suspension, engine and gearbox of the Mangusta. #qvalemangusta #36daysoftype #36daysoflettering #typography #instacars #graphicdesign #carguys #carguy #qvale #mangusta #detomaso #mg #mgsv #mgsvr #svr https://www.instagram.com/p/CUdTV7IPHhp/?utm_medium=tumblr
