Rumors And Fact
@makuta-takarrah
The sun beat down on the back and head of the reclined Matoran. Harsh yellow rays hissed off in gleams from a pure white and silver scheme, it only got worse the quicker Mazeka accelerated. Finely grained sand roared in waves behind the modified Moto-Sled. It was a bullet of a vehicle and looked like a squatter version of the Destral Cycle (Motorcycle?) without much of the pipes and wheels.
The Order of Mata Nui wished to have their field agents keep a low profile, but also saw the danger in sacrificing speed. The Moto-Sleds of Metru Nui were the answer, a vehicle used mainly in chute delivery and general transportation, fleets of them were modified for the order. Ready to descend into battle at a moments notice carrying the big and small at breakneck speeds.
However the reason why the spy Mazeka was riding one across the brief patch of desert near the Tesera region, jungles, wasn’t that. It wasn’t some skirmish or potential fight, no, he was supplying the role of a scout. He was looking into rumors of a Makuta. This didn’t excite him, didn’t peak his interest, why should it? Matoran and Agori alike most of the time couldn’t tell the difference between a curved vine and a matured pit viper, a report of some Makuta could easily just be a bonehunter playing tricks. So it was put off, initially, by even the likes of those directly under Toa Helryx. But the investigation had to be done at some point, just so happened Mazeka was the most qualified for the job.
Now that did make him sneer. Only reason he was out here was because he knew how to blend, every other spy took way too much time immersing themselves into the field to know when to drop and run. As for the scientific mind, they got too curious and would blow cover if going near an actual Makuta.
Mazeka shook those theories clean out of his head with one sideways jerk, he wasn’t one for needing recognition. Admiration and respect, this was just a easy mission.
In and out, he told himself silently with a sigh that hissed out his mask.
The jungles of Tesera soon gave way to a fertile valley, a soft gash that ran off for a couple Kio to the north and south, grew fat in the middle.
For anything in the immediate area of such a quiet valley, one bothered only by the hum of nature, it would be obvious when the sled approached. It was kept low to the ground but the sound of its engine was like small thunder, even when not at maximum speed and at the entrance to the lush valley.
Skeptic green eyes traced objects as the spy flew by. If he so much as saw a twitch he would halt the sled and chase after it, the valley was deserted or at least described as such and anything in it could’ve been this Makuta. It was from a mixture of doubt and the possibility of a shapeshifter. But admitting that last part would be opening the door to thinking the rumors were real, which the spy would never entertain.
travbeck: It’s Spirit Week at the studio as we enter our regular competition season. Tonight’s Theme: Fancy Nancy! These little posh princesses fell asleep as soon as they got into the car and then transferred smoothly into their beds. It was a parenting win tonight at the Beck house.
