Basically, Yoritsu is a second soul intertwined in Tsuyori's body since she was born, like Siamese twins of the soul. Yoritsu doesn't have a gender or body, so most of the time they lie dormant deep in Tsuyori's heart, and when they awaken, their hair turns white, their eyes turn black, and sometimes they even grow taller.

This is another reason why both they and Tsuyori are unable to experience all kinds of feelings, since Tsuyori cannot truly feel guilt or sadness, despite having, unintentionally, a very strong sense of empathy for others,while Yoritsu is unable to feel happiness or self-love.
