The Moon & The Sea
The hush was a wash from unselfish waves
Which sacrificed themselves to a sandy shore
To streak their tears as they ebbed away
Sad salted memories, back to the sea no more
I stood in solitude, in the silence of the night
My eyes to the mauve velvet distant space
A blanket which bedded the Sun from sight
So that glorious Moon rose in Sun's place
I watched in awe, as she sailed in regal pose
Sheaved in a gown, her face flowing beams
Soft from her covering of clouds, she rose
Brightening the darkness in heavenly dreams
I stood, my shapes' outline in luminous still
To witness her sweep as she lit stars above
And now came the song of a rising sea's thrill
Then I watched the sea and dear Moon make love
My eyes were now taken to an horizon's bed
Where sea lifted up with dark tidal love-calls
The beauty of the Moon haloed a blushful red
As stars blessed their love like sparkling jewels
The Moon in sweet beaming gave her assent
Flooding the sea, illuminating the dance
As sea-folk sway in white-crested delight
This allure of Moon glowed in romance
And I watched her, bed to high sea in the night
Slow in joining, but soft in her descending
Moon and Sea made love before Sun's rising
As Sea lifted up to help dear Moon's bending
I watched them disappear in the bed of horizon
