I love the book and this is one of the few movies adapted from a book which I actually also love. Seen this film many times before and it’s still as good as ever. Emotional but in a good way, Ponyboy and Jonny are two cinnamon rolls that need to be loved.

1x09, Rory’s Dance (2000) Rory asks Dean if he’s ever seen the movie and compares herself to Ponyboy.
RORY: I mean, it’s just a dance. What’s the big deal?
DEAN: Beats me.
RORY: And these kids at my school – awful. Have you seen The Outsiders?
DEAN: Yeah, I have.
RORY: Just call me Ponyboy.
DEAN: So, Ponyboy, you happy?
RORY: Yeah, I’m happy.
2x07, Like Mother, Like Daughter (2001) Lorelai says Rory has become a ‘soc’ (what the popular kids were called in this film) when talking about the puff hazing.
LORELAI: She told me to leave a key under the mat and some money on the coffee table.
RORY: And you said yes to this insanity?
LORELAI: Hey, I told you not to become a soc, but you didn’t listen.
I mean I didn’t dislike it… but I didn’t like it either.
Maybe if I wasn’t tired, or if the version I downloaded didn’t cut out every 15mins. It did get better in the second half. And I do enjoy baby Arthur Kennedy’s face.

I’ve seen this film many a time and I love it. Crazy/Not Crazy Vivien plus Pretty but Asshole Brando is an amazing combo. I wish I could have seen Tandy’s performance though. I really want to see it live - I’ve seen a video of Gillian Anderson’s Blanche and that was pretty good too but oh to see it live.
The film is a classic and a must see. 10/10 would recommend.

1x14, That Damn Donna Reed (2001) Lorelai names Rory’s bird Stanley, but when Rory reveals it is a girl, Lorelai renames it Stella, because “Stella was married to Stanley”. In a later scene, Lorelai imitates Stanley’s “Stella!” cry when the bird goes missing. Lorelai also mentions to Sookie that she prefers Jessica Tandy (the original Blanche) over Vivien Leigh (the Blanch in the film)
LORELAI: Oh, he’s so cute! What’s his name?
RORY: Case Study Number Twelve.
LORELAI: Is it hyphenated? Honey, he’s adorable. He should have a name.
RORY: I’m not bonding with my midterm, thank you.
LORELAI: Alright, I’ll name him. (to chick) Hi! Your name is Stanley. Hi, Stanley.
RORY: It’s a girl.
LORELAI: Oh. (to chick) Sorry about the Stanley thing. Your name is Stella. (to Rory) Stella’s nice and Stella was married to Stanley.
LORELAI: (yelling) Stellaaaa!
LORELAI: Well I called him when I got home and Stella wasn’t there.

3x17, A Tale of Poes and Fire (2003) Lorelai imitates the famous “Stella!” yell to get Luke’s attention when she had nowhere to stay because of the Hatlestads.
[Lorelai walks up to the diner and bangs on the door]
LORELAI: [yells] Luke! Luke! Stella!
[She throws a rock at his apartment window. Luke opens it and leans out]
LUKE: Who is that?
LORELAI: Lorelai.
