This is a picture of ‘Pink R2-D2′, which is named R2-KT. R2-KT was built by a man named Albin Johnson for his daughter, Katie, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2004. She passed away before R2-KT was finished. As a tribute, R2-KT has appeared in the Clone Wars, and is now going to be in The Force Awakens.
As the premier draws closer and closer, please be sensitive and aware of this story. I know it might seem like the movie is suggesting that drones conform unnecessarily to genders, but here is a friendly reminder that this is not the case.
