Coldplay’s first show took place in the upstairs room of a pub called The Laurel Tree, not far from Chris and Jonny’s flat. The building still exists, but is no longer a music venue.
This is one of the small handful of Coldplay shows not mixed by Daniel Green. It is also notable for the short lived band-name Starfish, before they finally arrived at Coldplay. The gig was completely sold out – mainly as a result of the band’s persuasive skills amongst their friends.
Most of these folks, though, continued to come to all of Coldplay’s early shows, so it can’t have been too bad…

The MTA and the New York Transit Museum held a farewell for the R42 on February 12th, 2020. The last set served as an (A) train running from Euclid Avenue to Far Rockaway and then return to Manhattan towards 207th Street and then back to Euclid Avenue to officially retire from service where there it received a send-off. A ton of train photographers, railfans and enthusiasts alike showed up to this event. Now, the R32s are the only 1960s subway cars left as the oldest operating subway train in the world currently with an uncertain future. There’s word going around that they will be retired by next month or April, they’re staying until the R211s start rolling in. There’s alot going on right now, and I’m trying to appreciate what we have left as much as possible before time runs out.
A special shoutout to the MTA and New York Transit Museum for holding this event. It’s really great to see this subway car receive a proper farewell run to highlight it’s importance that kept the transit system’s lettered lines going, especially for the last 11 years of service it saw on the (J) and (Z).
