Nothing Else Matters- Ryland fluff

You had been on tour with Ryland for the last few weeks now. He had offered now that you had graduated school, and since you had the time, what better way to spend it than traveling the world with your boyfriend and his family?

It had been tough at first, what with the constant activity, the red eye flights, jet lag, and the lack of privacy, but in all it was so worth to be seeing all of these incredible places, with Ry by your side.

He would also perform in the shows as well, and you felt your heart beam with pride and joy seeing him on stage doing what he loved, every night.

When you weren’t helping backstage or watching Ryland, sometimes you happened to cuddle in the dressing rooms until the show was over.

And so there you were, on the couch awaiting the arrival of the rest of the loud, goofy team of band members. You rested your head on his shoulder and a sigh escaped you from pure relief and comfort. After being busy all day, it felt good to relax with him.

He wrapped his arm around your shoulder and the two of you held hands, resting them in his lap. “I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m so glad you’re here on tour with me babe. It’s been even better with you with me.” He spoke softly, and sincerely. You looked at him softly and peered into his loving gaze for a few moments. “I’m so happy I’m here with you too. It’s been so much fun, I’m having an amazing time. Thank you for bringing me, baby. I love you.” “I love you too.” He said contentedly as his eyes flicker between your eyes and your lips.

You lean in and share a soft kiss for a few seconds when you hear a quiet giggle. You pull away in confusion to find Rydel, hiding behind the cracked door to the room, holding her phone and filming your moment. “Dammit Rydel!!”

You giggled playfully and waved a passive hand at her. “I got it fair and square! That is sooo going on R5TV.” She continued to giggle gleefully, walking into the room and filming you and Ryland, who was pulling you closer in a protective manner.

“As long as everyone out there knows she’s mine, you can film us all day.” He said smugly, clearly boasting and showing you off for the camera. “That’s right,” you blush slightly and lean your head back into his shoulder, so at peace.

A couple days later, you and Ryland were in your hotel room in bed, when you got a notification on your phone that a new R5TV was up. “Oh babe, Rydel uploaded a new episode.” You said pulling open your laptop, and opening YouTube.com. “Ooo ya, let’s see if she really put the clip of us in there,” he said leaning up to sit by you, peering over your shoulder into the laptop.

Sure enough, after a few minutes of other antics from the band, eating, laughing, and playing music, there was Rydel in her stage attire walking back from the show. She was talking about how the show went as she approached the door, and as she opened it she gasped quietly and immediately turned the camera to show you, and your boyfriend, looking very much in love on that couch.

As you continued watching you laughed in familiarity watching the scene play out, then scrolled to the comments. “Wow, Ryland and y/n are SO cute!!” “They are such a cute couple omgomgomgomg!!!!” “(y/s) for lifeee!!!!” you smiled reading the comments feeling good that everyone loved and approved of your relationship, but as you turned out the lights and curled into his warm side to sleep, you knew nothing else really mattered.

Still Hurting (Rocky):

I decided to take the back road home. It was a little more windy and had sharp turns here and there, but it was nice to see the deer late at night, and it’s like you could almost see the stars outside of the city. It was my favorite way to go home. There’s this cute little pond where the Johnson’s let their kids jump into in the summer, and some kids catch frogs.

I take the last corner seeing Rocky calling me. I press the talk button on my steering wheel.

“Hi baby.” I say as I see bright lights in the wrong lane. They hit the front corner of my car as I try to get out of the way, and I head straight for the pond. And then everything went black.

Rocky’s P.O.V:

I heard her sweet voice say, “Hi baby.” Followed by a gasp, screeching tires and then the line went dead. I sat in my dim lit living room waiting to tell  Y/N that we finally finished the EP, but something seemed to push all the positivity to the side.

I grab my phone and click on the app where I can see where Y/N is. I did this mainly to track when she was coming home late at night, and if my worst nightmare came true like tonight. She was two miles away on the road I hated her driving late at night. I was afraid she was going to get hit, or hit a deer one of these nights. And one of those happened.

I grab my keys and rush out the door.

When I reach the scene there were bright lights, taped off area, and a truck smashed against a tree. Yet her car wasn’t in site. I see people suiting up in wetsuits and someone yell, “I found the other car!” While standing shoulder deep in the pond.

“That’s my wife.” I yell trying to run to the water’s edge.

“Sir I need you to wait here.” A firefighter says, “My finest men are going to get your wife out.”

I stand there helpless as they hurry into the cool water, It took ten minutes for them to get her body to shore. Her skin was a light blue color, and her body was lifeless.

“Let’s pump warm fluids in her, I’m going to start CPR.” A paramedic yells hunching over my wife’s body. Y/N looked like she was already gone.

Minutes pass people running back and forth from the ambulance to my wife, back and forth. I just stood there helpless. Not sure of what I was even capable of doing. People were asking me questions but I couldn’t even open my mouth. It’s like I was unable to form words.

“I have a pulse. It’s weak, but I have one.” A man says, “Let’s get her to the hospital.”

5 days later:

“Rocky really you can go to the studio.” She says looking up at me, “I’ll be okay.”

“No, no. You have a concussion and you’re still on crutches.” I say bringing her a cup of tea. She sat on the couch with our cat, kind of in one piece. She had a concussion, two broken ribs and a dislocated knee from the impact. The doctor said we’re lucky her legs didn’t get crushed since she was so close to the dashboard.

I set the mug down on a coaster down and press my lips against her forehead. I was afraid to leave her. At night I’d hear her gasp awake knowing it was another nightmare. Yet I wasn’t sleeping at all. I was maybe getting three hours a night, I would check constantly if she had a pulse, and she’d always swat my hand away if she was still awake.

“You need to get out of the house.” She says, “You haven’t left the house. You need to get some fresh air.”

“We sat outside yesterday.” I say sitting on the other end of the couch. I rub her cold toes gently afraid I was going to hurt her. “Rocky.”

“What.” I snap back. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding in. “I’m sorry.”

“C’mere.” She says waving me to come closer, “You won’t hurt me.”

We lay in silence which felt like hours, but I knew it was only minutes. I could hear her heart beating against my ear, and her fingers danced through my newly cut hair.

“I’m still here.” She whispers causing tears to form in my eyes. “I know it was a close call. I know I wasn’t here for a long time but I’m here Rocky.” “I thought I was going to lose you.” I cry into her chest, gripping her as tightly as I could without breaking her. Feeling her, knowing she was really here.

“Oh honey.” She says pressing her lips against my forehead. “I’m so sorry I scared you.”
