Lea brushed her thumb along the hands on her watch and frowned, then closed the cover with a decisive snap. That’s it; she couldn’t wait any longer. With an impatient huff, she dug the watch into her pocket and stormed out of her room, keeping her ears open for any telltale sounds that always accompanied Angie and Ella’s presence. She preferred that she didn’t run into them right now.
They weren’t getting it. Donna couldn’t afford to be protected forever. While Lea wished she could let things be, and have her sister heal in her own time, time was not a luxury they had. Anything could change in a second. Someone who had been at your side for years could suddenly be gone. The place you considered a safe haven could be rubble in moments.
The problem was, her mindset wasn’t going over well with her other sisters. It took a lot of convincing to continue with the morning training sessions once Ella found out, and now, it was one of the few guaranteed times Lea knew she’d have time with Donna. The thought alone made her miffed, even moreso whenever she passed by the others, hearing snippets of conversation with their sister. If she could stuff down her pride long enough to realize it, she would admit that she wanted more moments like that, too.
But the world had changed, and if her sisters weren’t going to do what was needed, then she was going to do it, herself.
Lea paused and brushed her hand along the wall as she heard talking around the corner. She could tell Donna was alone, given how she carried on her own conversation–and the lack of a second pair of footsteps–and just like that, Lea felt some of her irritation melt away. No Angie, no Ella, not even August. This, she could work with. She smirked softly, coming into view as her sister came close.
“Need someone else to talk to?” She asked, tilting her head in Donna’s direction.
