Anyone with a functioning family,
is it normal to constantly get compared to a single parent? I feel that my life wasn't normal at all, mainly cause I was seen as a sort of avatar of my father since we look almost alike and he was wildly popular.
But I didn't grow up with him, I grew up with my mom 99,9% of my life and yet it never ceased. It heavily annoys me that they see such a wonderful man in him when in reality he only was afloat through trickery, false promises and scams. And caused a whole lot of problems for me that are infuriating to talk about. I know nothing about him except for the mask of the calm figure who asked questions as if he saw me for the first time.
So it fucking sucks to get compared to a person whom I can see as nothing more than an utter loser in disguise who's been broken by the expectations of his family back home. Maybe I'd see him as a good person if he ever fucking showed himself to me without putting on an act. But he didn't, and so every positive association with him only stings more and more.
law in an unbuttoned shirt manning the ship while its storming on deck…… hes soaked and everythings see-through……. :3
OH!
Why they have to make venting feel so corny
ITS THE LINEEEEEEEEE
Yu/Yui and Nanako fall under the former (dad/kid) rather than the latter (sibling guardian/sibling charge) whereas Mar and Brie would all under the latter (if u remember that era of this blog) b/c the big sib/lil' sib going at each other's throats due to trauma and stress despite how much the love each other is the secret sauce of that dynamic.
Whereas the former is abt the unconditional love of a guardian having to adapt to their role as a responsible caretaker for their charge despite that not being something they'd choosen. It doesnt have to be limited to dad/kid in this case... but it really leans towards dads rather than moms (due to how we as a society view father figures and men as parents in general vs how women are expected to be BUT thats a whole essay in and of itself) as the interesting aspect of that.
BUT im not sayin' it wont or doesn't work! it works good for like.. tangential roles (like aunts or uncles or cousins or mentors or even family friends HELL or even a stranger who's got a big enough heart but zero experience with kids! and yes it works for moms but please try and understand where im coming from) b/c their role in the child's upbringing wasn't what was planned, but now they have to adapt to that role and its about that struggle. of learning to be vulnerable and learning to care for something and about shedding a wall in order to be depended on by someone who literally can't depend on themselves. And also there being the element of "i need to cope with the loss of my s/o but i have a kid to raise rn so I dont have time for that" LIKE I hope that makes sense?
tamons b side got me in a fucking chokehold rn
So yeah
