Have you seen the new horror movie obsession? It kind of made me think of maruki and your b2i au. Both Yosuke and hikari were stripped of their autonomy to fit what maruki wanted instead of what was right and healthy for them and they both came back to the horror that someone else had changed them to fit an “ideal” relationship that wouldn’t have happened had they had their own choices and that while people had noticed they were acting weird, nobody understood the depth of what was happening and that their actions weren’t actually their own. While it’s nowhere near as extreme/entitled as what bear was doing, the loss of identity made me think of it.

Also, have you explained yuuko’s name choice? Her name is pretty close to yu and yukiko’s, so it’s gotta be a depressing thought that brainwashed Yosuke potentially named his kid with his friends in mind even if he didn’t realize it

Yuuko was named after Yu, because Yosuke still loves and cherishes Yu dearly- even when maruki'd into being content without him.

all that being said, I'm a huge ghostbusters fan and if anything comes out of this, a ghostbusting/exorcism themed persona game is going to be a blast. Gives me an excuse to re-indulge in Ghostbusters Media (first few movies, the cartoon, a few games, and the newest busters movie)

So far nothing has suggested an explicit ghostbuster theme other than the green and a few hints at tech being used in the "busting" process- and it's leaning to a traditional "Exorcist" stuff. But I can hope ;D

I still think urban exploration is going to be a big factor in the game, but i'll be interested to be proven wrong.

I wonder if it's going to explore different kinds of ghost exorcisms with a range of cultures. Usually JP media defaults to the "Ofuda" style of ghost exorcisms and Yokai - but SMT demons do pull from all sorts of cultures, and the typical "priest-style exorcism" seems to be featured heavily. Return of the water element via holy water? Perhaps I'm hoping too much.

someone else pointed out how the teaser is a graveyard, and that the graveyard in question is one explicitly for gaijin- and is haunted asf. and I think the leaks said it's going to take place in Yokohama.. which pretty much affirms that it will be set there, if not in a "fantasy adjacent" like how Inaba isn't a real place.

also, the theorized main character is blonde- which is usually a telltale character trait in japanese media for "foreigner" (Lisa, Bede, Teddie, and Ann for example). A dead parent/parents and the connection to the graveyard is a good way to make them parentless like the other protags.

gestures at "green" as a color representing "health, disease, and nature" and Persona's tendancy to touch on social issues in japan: it makes me wonder if this one will touch on Japan's isolationist history and the rapidly growing xenophobia manifesting in japan.

Green is also heavily associated with ectoplasm, even though it's not a traditional association with "green". But a lot of more modern media def leans to "green" being associated with ghosts- especially in the west.

Possibly due to green being associated with "rot and death". But a take is that- while Green is a color we associate with life and nature and health, once it stops being a "natural green" and leans to neons and oversaturated greens- we key it as "supernatural" or even Radioactive.,
